It is located in the southeast of Sichuan Province and belongs to the mid-subtropical humid monsoon climate zone with four distinct seasons. Area is 5384.8 square kilometers. Neijiang City is located in the middle section of the lower reaches of Tuojiang River. The terrain is mainly hilly and surrounded by low mountains in the southeast and southwest. Neijiang City has a long history. It was the land of Liangzhou in the Xia and Shang Dynasties. Zizhong County was first established in the Western Han Dynasty, Han'an County was established in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and Han'an County was renamed Zhongjiang County in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. In the Sui Dynasty, it was named Neijiang County.
