How much are the tickets for Bird Station and Snake Island Reserve?
Known locally as Haimao Island, it is located in Laotieshan Nature Reserve, in the Bohai Sea about 7.2km west of Dongzi Village, Shuangdaowan Town, with an altitude of118.7m and an area of 0.3km2.. Because there are flocks of seagulls inhabiting the island all the year round, it is named Haimao Island. Haimao Island is a paradise for seagulls, because the climate here is suitable, the rainfall is abundant, the shrubs are overgrown, and the enemy does little damage. In August and September, the climate will get cold, and groups of distant tourists such as Luan, Goose and Duck will pass by and rest. I flew over the Bohai Sea with great interest to Shandong Peninsula, where Haimao Island was particularly lively. Haimao Island is of great value for studying the migration routes of many migratory birds in China. Lushun Snake Island departs from Dalian Port, bypasses Laotieshan at the southern end of Liaodong Peninsula and sails 20 nautical miles to the west. There is an island in the northwest-southeast direction on the sea. This island with an area of only about 1 square kilometer is Snake Island. The highest point of Snake Island is 215m above sea level. There are bare cliffs in the west and north. Locals also call it Mangshan Island and Xiaolongshan Island. The outline of the island is an irregular rectangle, running northwest and southeast, with a length of 1500m and a width of 700m. There are four canyons in the southeast of the island. Due to the lack of grass and warm climate on the island, there are many natural cracks and caves, which are suitable for the survival and reproduction of snakes. The Agkistrodon halys on the island is a valuable wildlife resource in China, which has important medical and scientific research value.
The discovery of Snake Island can be traced back to the early 1930s. At that time, due to the need to build a lighthouse on the island, people were sent to Snake Island to inspect the site selection. However, people who went there were frightened and fled back to the mainland. Since then, the wonders of Snake Island have been announced to the world. 1963 the State Council established Laotieshan Nature Reserve to protect birds and snakes that feed on birds. Since 1980, Laotieshan has been designated as one of the national key nature reserves by the State Council, with an area of 17000 hectares. Killing birds and snakes is strictly prohibited.
