Introduction to the Great Buddha Temple Scenic Area Xinchang Great Buddha Temple Scenic Area is located on the side of Nanming Mountain, adjacent to Xinchang County. It is not only a thousand-year-old temple in the ordinary sense, but a large-scale developed tourist area. In addition to the most famous Maitreya Buddha statue and the five-story Buddhist temple, there are more than ten scenic spots such as dinosaur fossil park, Sara Grottoes and Shediao Village, which are rich in landscape.

Not far from the entrance of the scenic spot, there is a fork on the right hand side leading to Shediao Village. The buildings in the village are arranged according to the scenes in The Legend of the Condor Heroes. You can go to Niujiacun, Yang Tiexin's hometown, Guizhuang van, and Xuanyuantai, a beggar gang in Lu Chengfeng, and relive the plot in the book. To the north of Snake Carving Village is the Wood Fossil Dinosaur Park. This wood fossil forest (silicified wood) has a history of more than 100 million years. Now you can clearly see the traces of lightning and moth-eaten. It is the most precious paleontological relic in Xinchang, and it is worth seeing.

Go to Mingjing Lake and continue to visit Sara Grottoes. This grotto is also newly built, on a cliff halfway up the mountain. Climbing the steps, there are huge reliefs of two generals. Hum, there is a reclining Buddha in the grottoes of the reclining Buddha Hall, with a serene expression. There are complex reliefs on the top of the surrounding temples, which are very beautiful. Sara Grottoes have a small platform with a stone bench to rest on, overlooking the Mingjing Lake below and the Great Buddha Hall, with a wide view.

On the tour route, you can see a smiling stone statue of Maitreya among the green trees in the mountains. If you walk nearby, you will find six small Maitreya stone carvings with different shapes on the open-air side. Many tourists like to take pictures here. You can also see the 500 Luohan Cave next to it. On the far right, there are other scenic spots, such as Guang Qi Jingyuan, Prajna Valley and Earth Treasure Hall. You can walk all the way around the most classic Buddhist temples, or you can climb directly from the main road in the middle, which is relatively close.

The most amazing thing about the Great Buddha Hall is that the five-story wooden structure outside it is perfectly integrated with the grottoes inside, and there is a stone Maitreya Buddha statue as high as 16 meters inside. This statue was carved in the Southern Dynasties, resplendent and magnificent. It is the oldest and only early grotto Buddha statue in Jiangnan. Known as "the largest Buddha in the south of the Yangtze River", it is 200 years earlier than the Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan. There is a memorial tower for Master Ming next to the release pool next to the Great Buddha Hall, which was built in the Sui Dynasty.
