Which city is Taichang?

Taichang is a Taicang City (county-level city) in Suzhou, Jiangsu.

Taicang City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, is hosted by Suzhou City. It is located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, on the south bank of the Yangtze River Estuary, bordering the Yangtze River to the east, across the river from Chongming Island, and to the south of Baoshan District and Shanghai City. Jiading District is connected to Kunshan City to the west and Changshu City to the north. The total area is 809.93 square kilometers. Taicang City belongs to the northern subtropical southern humid climate zone, which is characterized by sufficient sunlight and four distinct seasons. Spring and autumn are changeable, with hot and rainy summers and cold and dry winters. As of April 2020, Taicang governs 6 towns, 1 subdistrict, and 1 economic development zone. The municipal government is located at No. 99, Xianfudong Street, Loudong Street. As of the end of 2020, the registered population was 510,500.

Taicang Prefecture was established in the tenth year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty (1497); it was named Taicang County in the first year of the Republic of China (1912); in March 1993, the county was removed and Taicang City was established. Within Taicang, there are tourist attractions such as Jincang Lake GJ Water Conservancy Scenic Area, Taicang Modern Agricultural Park, Taicang Shaxi Ancient Town, and Yanshan Garden. It was awarded the honorary title of Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art in 20182020, GJ Sanitary City (District), 2018 Healthy City Construction Demonstration City, the Fourth Batch of GJ Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Cities and Counties, and National Double Support Model City (County).
