What are the problems in the elderly tourism consumption market?

At present, the phenomenon of tourism consumption of the elderly still exists to a great extent, and related consumer complaints are on the rise. At present, there are three major problems in the tourism consumption market for the elderly, namely, disguised fare increase, hidden trap of "free travel" and improper words of "elderly group", which have become the "hidden rules" of the industry.

disguised price increase

It is one of the hidden rules of the tourism market for the elderly to join the group to increase the price. Many elderly consumers complained that they were treated unfairly by travel agencies and were asked to add a certain amount of "old age fee", otherwise they would not join the tour group, or were temporarily asked by the tour guide to add expensive self-funded items during the tour, which violated the stipulation that "self-funded items should not be arranged for tourism products" in China's "Service Standard for the Elderly in Travel Agencies".

Hidden trap

At present, many unscrupulous businesses organize tourism projects for the elderly in the name of "free". In fact, it is mainly some health care products merchants who grasp the psychological characteristics of the elderly and "carefully" organize them in order to promote their products. During the tour, the elderly will be arranged with instruments, physical examination and "famous doctors". After being told that there are "problems" in the body, merchants will gradually induce them to shop, and some will also promote some fake and shoddy products.

The name doesn't match the reality.

The travel service standards of travel agencies for the elderly clearly stipulate the requirements for products and services for the elderly, including the tour time should not be too long, doctors accompanying the group, hotels with elevators, and first-aid skills of tour guides. However, among the old-age tourism products launched by major travel agencies, there are not many that can meet the standard requirements and truly have the characteristics of the old and meet the needs of the old-age tourism. Most of them are "old wine in new bottles", but ordinary tourism products are labeled as old-age tourism.
