Does Hainan belong to Guangdong?

Hainan does not belong to Guangdong now, but a separate province. Before 1988, Hainan was an administrative region under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province. Starting from 1988, the central government separated Hainan Province from Guangdong Province and set up another province.

Hainan Province is located at the southernmost tip of China.
