Hukou Waterfall Information

Located in Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province, it is the second batch of national key scenic spots announced by the State Council 1988. From the county seat along the 309 national highway to the east to the Yellow River, 48 kilometers away from the county seat.

The Yellow River, like a soaring dragon, passes through the Qin Jin Grand Canyon in the northwest loess plateau. When flowing through the hukou, the river with a width of about 400 meters suddenly converged into a trough, forming a huge horseshoe-shaped waterfall group. The main waterfall is 40 meters wide with a drop of more than 30 meters. It is the largest waterfall in the Yellow River and the second largest waterfall in China after Huangguoshu Waterfall.

The planned area of the scenic spot is 175 square kilometers, and the main scenic spot is 27 square kilometers. It is a canyon scenic spot with Hukou Waterfall as the main body, bordering Xiaohekou in the north and Wangshi Estuary in the south. In summer and autumn, there are frequent rainstorms on the Loess Plateau, and the water potential of the Yellow River rises sharply. The waterfall is over 65,438+000 meters wide, and the Fiona Fang is several miles long. The water vapor covers the sky and is magnificent. This is the best season to visit and watch waterfalls. In winter, the snow and ice are frozen, and the waterfall is covered with ice ridges, wrapped in silver, which is particularly enchanting. In spring, the ice and snow melt, and the ice ribs crack, like landslides and cracks, and the sound is like thunder.

Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River has been famous since ancient times. "Water Classic Note" says: "Yu governs water, and Hukou begins." In the Ming Dynasty, a poet wrote the poem Hukou, praising: "Kunlun Mountain is the source of great flow, and Yumenguan has turned into a pot of harvest. Double Qiu Teng fights straight, and three drums of whale scales dare to bear the boat. " In the Ming Dynasty, Chen described in the poem Hukou Autumn Wind: "Autumn wind rolls thousands of waves, and the sunset rises." The Yellow River leaves Kunlun in the west with a long history. The magnificent Longmen, Mengmen Mountain (located between Longmen and Hukou) and Hukou Waterfall, which is known as the "pedal of Jiujiang" in the world, are the most spectacular and are known as the three wonders of the Yellow River. Hukou Waterfall is famous for swallowing mountains and rivers, and its voice is very strong.

Mengmen Mountain is about 2.5 kilometers away from Hukou, and the river is divided into two by huge stones. This stone spans hundreds of steps, and the river divides into streams, overlooking like a door, hence the name Mengmen. Although Mengmen Mountain is "in danger", it is a big landscape under Hukou. After flowing out of Mengmen, the river rushed to the sea and never returned until Longmen, 65 kilometers away.

Looking at the rainbow and swimming around the mouth of the lake is a pleasure. The water drops are empty and the sun shines on people. After refraction, reflection and diffraction, a colorful giant rainbow appears over the waterfall, which can be called a spectacle among wonders. Sunny days are around 1 1 am, which can be found on the Shaanxi side of Hexi; You can find it here at Shanyou in Hedong in the afternoon. If you walk through the Yellow River Bridge for a few miles, you can see the scenery of its hukou in Mengmen, colorful rainbows, with the sky above and the water curtain on the hukou below, which is even more beautiful and charming. Hukou Waterfall Park, which has been built, has direct access to expressway and waterfall pavilion. This is a unique park with beautiful mountains and dense forests.

About 1 km from the mouth of the lake, there is a small village called Longwangda, which is said to be the resting place of the Longwang. There used to be a story of "boating on a dry boat". In ancient times, it was very thrilling to fall into the water in the air because of the rapid flow and direct diarrhea of Hukou Waterfall. Therefore, all ships, large and small, sailing on the Yellow River and passing through Hukou must stop at the upstream of the waterfall to unload their own goods, tie ropes on the ship, pull the empty boat from the river to the dry land by hand, and then "sail on the dry land" until it bypasses the waterfall, then push it out, reload the goods on board and continue to sail on the water. It is said that the shipping of the Yellow River was very busy in the past, with as many as 1000 ships moored at the mouth of the lake and hundreds of boatmen engaged in "rowing on dry land". It was not until the Shanxi-Henan-Shaanxi railway was opened to traffic that waterway transportation was replaced by railway, and "boating on dry land" became a historical relic.

Climb a hole, boldly approach the spout, and find a shiny stone in the middle of the spout, which seems to float up and down in the torrent. This is the "tortoise stone" as the saying goes. Bird's eye view, floating up and down, flickering, better than carp yue longmen. There are many legends about this strange turtle stone. Some people say that it is a gem set by Yu Wang during the flood control, while others say that it is a sacred stone left by Nu Wa when she mended the sky.

Not far north of Hukou, there are two mountains, Zushan and Dongshan. It is said that "harmony between the world" comes from here. According to legend, when ancient humans were about to become extinct due to flooding, Fuxi and Eastern Xia got married through "media stone", and started a new life of farming by men and weaving by women, becoming the earliest ancestors of human beings. In order to commemorate them, later generations called this mountain "Zushan" and "Cave Mountain". Lunzutoundan is 65,438+0,700 meters above sea level. Now there are Fuxi Temple ruins on the mountain. The temple still retains the portrait of "rolling in the ditch" and two inexhaustible spring wells. The air is unusually fresh and cool.

Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River is known as the "Wonder of the World" and is an ideal tourist destination. However, because of traffic jams in remote mountainous areas, only a handful of people can come to watch. Today, Hukou has taken on a new look. The flying frame of the Yellow River Bridge, the newly-built pavilion and plank road, the climb to Anle Mountain, the scenery of Dachuan and the pastoral scenery can be seen from the panoramic view, which makes people linger.

1On the occasion of Hong Kong's return to the motherland in June, 1997, Ke Shouliang, a Hong Kong stuntman, successfully flew over Hukou Waterfall of the Yellow River, becoming the world's first flying man, winning the pride of the Chinese nation, greatly enhancing the visibility of the Yellow River Waterfall in the world, and ushered in the tourist climax of the Yellow River Waterfall. Hukou Waterfall has become one of the attractions that domestic and foreign tourists yearn for.

6. Special note: In the cold winter of 2002~2003, there was an ice waterfall spectacle at Hukou Waterfall. On weekdays, Hukou Waterfall, which is "roaring and roaring thousands of cows", presents a different style in its calmness: the Yellow River water flows down from the ice on both sides of the river with different shapes and levels of ice, and the water mist aroused reflects a beautiful rainbow in the sun, and a beautiful ice bridge is built under the waterfall, which makes people lament the ingenuity of nature. According to local people, the Yellow River water gradually becomes clear, sweet and frozen every year from 65438+February. In order to dredge the river, the ice blown up from the upstream flows down the river, filling the Shililong ditch in Hukou, forming a magnificent landscape of the ice bridge in Hukou Ice Waterfall. It is understood that the continuous low temperature in the north of China this year has caused the Yellow River to be frozen up and down nearly 1500 km, and a large number of ice cubes have been stuffed in the hukou, and the hukou itself has frozen, resulting in the lowest water flow of the Yellow River 10 years in this area.
