Is this a good way to travel from Baotou to Jiuzhaigou? Is the current weather suitable?
Let me tell you about my experience. We took a train from Baotou to Mianyang, took a long-distance bus to Pingwu County the next day, and chartered a bus from Pingwu to Baimazhai and stayed there. I ate a lot of special food there and watched a very ethnic-style party. The party required money and was not free. The next day we chartered a bus to Jiuzhaigou. The driver was very nice and acted as a tour guide for us. However, we still couldn’t understand some Sichuan dialect. I stayed there for 2 days and the food and accommodation were very expensive. Then when we went down the mountain, we went around to Wanglang for 2 days. Then I went back to Mianyang and went shopping before going home.
My suggestions:
1. The train is terrible, 1717. It would be better if you can buy a sleeper ticket. Be mentally prepared.
2. It was around 4:30 in the morning when we arrived in Mianyang, and it was still dark. There is a hotel opposite the train station, which seems to be 4 stars. We stayed in a small hotel nearby (to save money).
3. It was a bit cold when we stayed in Baimazhai. We went there at the end of September, so if you want to go now, it is recommended to bring some thick clothes.
4. Things are quite expensive, and money is the most important thing.
5. There are no seat tickets for Mianyang back to Baotou, only sleeper and standing tickets. It is recommended to book tickets in advance. (Now in Mianyang, it seems that reservations can be made by phone, which is much more convenient).
6. I think it’s still a bit cold there now. It might be better around May (purely based on my own opinion).
7. Jiuzhaigou Valley is very close to Wanglang. If you have time, it is recommended to visit and experience the virgin forest. If you are lucky, you can even see pandas~~
8. The hot pot oil is very large and spicy, but it is delicious. However, if you are not used to it, you may have diarrhea. I am very unlucky...
Oh, that’s so long-winded. Hope this helps.
Wish you: Have a good time
