Xitang Ancient Town Spring Festival Travel Guide

This is a typical Jiangnan water town, with slanted lanes, slanted alleys, and babbling doors and windows. The corridors and bridges that have passed through the years have been decorated with festive decorations.

Under the high red lights, there are bustling crowds, and the green brick horse-head walls stand tall on both sides. Well-preserved Jiangnan folk houses in the Ming and Qing architectural styles are placed one after another among the alleys and winding paths. It is said that the way of celebrating the New Year here is the most traditional and lively, with the strongest flavor.

Since a few years ago, Xitang has carried out a series of folk activities: offering sacrifices to stoves, listening to waterside folk operas, and eating traditional New Year’s Eve dinners. The most exciting one is the wedding on the water. There is great joy hidden under the red veil, and the "groom fairy" wearing a big red flower will embrace the beauty amidst cheers.

The moment I lifted my hijab, I made an oath to grow old together and help each other in the same boat. The "God of Wealth" will also go around the streets and send blessings to the people of Xitang and guests from afar.
