The origins of Fushan, Taku and Tajiang.
Before there was Fushan Village, there was Fushan Temple.
1. "Floating Mountain": During the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty (885-888), Zen Master Huiyuan of Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, traveled south and crossed the sea to this island. He saw its beautiful scenery. The scenery is elegant, surrounded by the sea and isolated from the mainland. It is like a paradise in the world. It is a good place for monks to meditate. So they hired boats, recruited migrant workers, and transported materials to build the temple here. After the temple was built, it was difficult to name it for a while, but seeing the waves surging on all sides of the island, it seemed like it was floating in the sea, so it was called "Fushan Temple". During the Southern Song Dynasty, residents from other places gradually moved into the island, and villages gradually formed. The village also got its name from the temple.
2. "Otter Cave": According to legend, there are two theories: ①The Kanyu family named it because the terrain resembles an otter. ② During the Southern Song Dynasty, people from Jiangsu and Zhejiang came to Fujian to avoid chaos and stayed on the coast. As a result, the island residents became more prosperous and made a living by fishing or trading between Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Huguang. Many boats and sampans came and went at the port, and otters often came to the boats to look for food, and They inhabit the caves between the rocks on the seaside, so this place is also called the Otter Cave.
During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the maritime transportation on Taku Island was developed and there were many ships, most of which passed through the Nanyang Islands. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, they transferred to Taiwan. Later, the residents of the area moved to Taiwan, Xiamen and overseas due to trade or expansion of overseas business ventures, and the place name "Otter Cave" spread throughout the world.
3. "Tajiang": According to the "New Examination of Tajiang": "First, Yu and Wu Jun from my hometown climbed up to look at it with hope. They said that the terrain of Kanyu's family looked like an otter, and there was no resemblance. Thinking about it, Afterwards, my ancestor Xisheng was known as "Mr. Dajiang" at that time, so he changed the name of "Dajiang" to "Hong Zhong". , named Tajiang. Anxi training in the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty).
Nowadays, primary schools, middle schools and senior citizens’ associations are named after Tajiang.
