There is also a Wudang Mountain in Jiangxi, which is called "Little Wudang Mountain" and its scenery is not lost to Wudang Mountain in Hubei.
South Wudang Mountain, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, is located in Wudang Town, Longnan City, at the southernmost tip of Jiangxi Province, at the junction of Jiangxi and Guangdong, about 40 kilometers away from Longnan City. South Wudang Mountain, known as "Little Wudang Mountain", is a scenic spot integrating Danxia Stone Forest landform and Buddhist culture.
Compared with Wudang Mountain in Hubei Province, Little Wudang Mountain in Longnan is much less famous, and there are not many tourists here, but it has its own unique scenery. If you happen to go to Longnan, or it's not too far from here, it's still worth visiting. Of course, there are also many tourists who come specifically for Little Wudang Mountain.
Tickets for South Wudang Mountain are a bit expensive, with 80 yuan per person, which is only a little lower than the ticket for Hubei Wudang Mountain 105 yuan, but the scenery here is really unique.
In the South Wudang Mountain Scenic Area, there are 99 strange peaks, which rise abruptly like flat ground and stretch for more than tens of kilometers. The peak is not too high, the main peak is 864 meters above sea level. It is reported that the peak here was formed in the frequent movement of the Paleozoic crust, which is a conglomerate peak and a typical Danxia landform.
From a height, there are many peaks, but the trees on the peak are lush and the cliffs are very smooth. Some tourists said that they especially want to plant big radishes in this magical land.
The origin of South Wudang Mountain is related to Wang Yangming, a great philosopher in Ming Dynasty. When Wang Yangming passed by, he saw the beautiful scenery and decided to climb to the top of the mountain. At the top, he wrote a couplet: "The generals and civil servants dismounted, and the emperor stopped that day." Later generations called the two words in the couplet Wudang, hence the name Wudang Mountain.
In addition to the strange peaks and rocks, there are many scenic spots on the mountain, such as Sister Peak, Skyscraper Cliff, Qingfeng Pass, Book Peak, Yixin Pavilion, Wenhuaxuan, Tiesuo Ladder, Yatianmen, Desheng Monument, First-line Sky, Wudang Temple, Air Corridor, Buddha on the back and other cultural and natural landscapes, especially the first-line sky, which looks particularly fantastic.
You can also feel the steepness here when you see the peaks here. In the past, there was only an "iron rope ladder" to the top of Wudang Mountain, but it is too dangerous and steep for tourists now. So a plank road was built around the cliff. The plank road is 900 meters long and about 400 meters away from the foot of the mountain, so it is also known as the "air corridor". Strolling through the air corridor, you can have a panoramic view of South Wudang Mountain.
There is also a glass plank road, which is a nightmare for the timid. The abyss is at your feet, and you walk on it trembling and carefully. Perhaps that thrilling feeling can only be realized if you are there.
There is also a leisure island on the way, surrounded by towering old trees. Not only is the view wide, but the viewing platform is also large. You can have a good rest here when you are tired during the journey, and you can also enjoy the unique natural landscape of South Wudang Mountain.
Although South Wudang Mountain is not famous, the scenery here is really magnificent. Whether it's the beautiful peaks with strange peaks or the ancient villages dotted with white walls and tiles in the mountains, there is a different artistic conception. Standing on the top of the mountain, the scenery you see is like a fairyland, more similar to the "Xanadu" written by Tao Yuanming. If it was in late autumn, it might be more beautiful here.
What is even more exciting is that a "glass overpass" has been built in the mountains, spanning between two peaks and soaring above the lush and beautiful forest. If you are lucky enough to meet the wonders of the sea of clouds, walking on the glass overpass is like walking on the clouds.
