Introduction to Maijishan Grottoes in Gansu Province How to play Maijishan Grottoes?

Maijishan Grottoes in Gansu Province, located in Tianshui City, have a high reputation in the local area. The mysterious atmosphere naturally emitted here can definitely evoke the deepest touch and tremor of tourists' souls. Let's share a detailed introduction.

A lone peak, 194 grottoes, more than 7,000 statues, 1300 square meters murals.

This is Maijishan Grottoes, known as "Oriental Sculpture Art Exhibition Hall", located in Maiji District, Tianshui City, Gansu Province. "Maijishan, across Wei Qing in the north, spreads to the south, with a height of 500 Li, and a stone in the middle, which looks like peasant wheat, hence the name." Ancient books recorded Maijishan.

Here, there are many bamboo forests, green mountains, surrounded by peaks, and wheat crops rise from the ground, which is beautiful. It was called "Bamboo Crown of Qin Dynasty" in ancient times. It is a strange peak in Xiaolongshan Mountain at the western end of Qinling Mountains in China, with an altitude of1.742m and1.42m.. Its shape is very strange, rising like a wheat pile, so people call it Maijishan.

The scenery around Maiji Mountain is beautiful, and the mountain is covered with cypress, pine and wild flowers. When you climb to the top of the mountain, you can see from a distance, surrounded by lush green hills. Qian Shan is a beautiful picture with thousands of valleys, pines like the sea and clouds. This painting, called "McKee Yu Yan", is the first of the eight scenic spots in Tianshui.

Among the famous grottoes in China, McKee has the best natural scenery, and is known as "Little Jiangnan" and "the crown of nymphs in Qin Dynasty".

Mount McKee, also known as McKee Cliff, is a cliff located in the southwest of the peak. There are grottoes dug on this cliff, some are only 20 meters away from the foot of the mountain, and some are as high as 80 meters. It is very rare to dig hundreds of caves and Buddha statues on such a steep cliff in China. Cliff pavilions, grottoes, cliff niches, gable buildings, cloisters and other supporting facilities are complete, and visitors can go directly to the grottoes.

Maijishan Grottoes were built in the late Qin Dynasty (AD 384 -4 17) in the Sixteen Countries, and have been repaired and expanded many times since then. They were basically completed in the Sui Dynasty at the end of the 6th century, and they are still intact. "It is in the middle of Yun Lan, between cliffs, and there are thousands of stone niches." There are more than 7,000 statues of more than ten dynasties, including the late Qin Dynasty, the Western Qin Dynasty, the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Western Wei Dynasty, the Northern Zhou Dynasty, the Sui Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty, the Five Dynasties, the Song Dynasty, the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, and the murals 1300 square meters are distributed in/kloc.

The caves in Maijishan Grottoes have various shapes, such as herringbone roof, square-collapsed four-sided roof, arched lintel, dome, square-lintel-covered caisson, square-topped roof, small round niche and urn roof. These different types of grottoes and cliff pavilions are precious historical materials for studying the cultural exchanges between China and the West and the evolution and development of architectural structures.

After thousands of years of wind and rain, the plank road connecting the grottoes was partially damaged and the mountain was severely weathered. After the completion of McKee Scenic Area, the crumbling cliffs have been stabilized, and the plank road is wide and tidy, safe and reliable. Wang Renyu's sinister scenes have long been history. Now visitors can safely visit all kinds of cliff pavilions, enter all kinds of caves at will and overlook the beautiful scenery below the mountain.

Many caves in Maiji Mountain are unique "cliff pavilions". The statue of Buddha on the 70-meter-high seven buddha Pavilion is handsome in shape, and the murals left on the top of the corridor are exquisite. Among them, the map of chariots and horses at the top of the western end is different from any angle, which is a classic of China mural composition.

Among them, the statue in Cave 44 was called "Venus of the East" by the Japanese, and the robes in Cave 78 and Cave Xiqin 128 were painted with detailed patterns.

In addition to the grottoes, Maiji Mountain Scenic Area consists of more than 100 scenic spots such as Xianrenya, Shimen, Quxi and Jieting Hot Springs. With rich and diverse biological types and species, it is known as the "crown of forest springs in Longshang" and is an artistic pearl and tourist attraction on the golden tourist route of the ancient Silk Road.

Maijishan Grottoes has been listed as a world cultural heritage, a national 5A-level tourist attraction and a national geological park, and has been shortlisted as "Magic Northwest 100 Scenic Spot".
