Shopping in Macau is 50% more expensive than shopping in the Mainland. Can I complain?

When consumers encounter a consumption dispute in Macao, they can lodge a complaint if the consumption amount is 50,000 patacas or less (equivalent to 4 1 1,000 RMB). The Consumer Dispute Arbitration Center under the Macao Consumer Council specializes in handling consumer disputes with the amount of MOP50,000 or less. If the dispute cannot be resolved after the mainland consumers return to their places of origin to lodge a consumer complaint, they can request the arbitration center to resolve the dispute with the manufacturer. The application documents and supporting documents required in the arbitration process can be submitted to the arbitration center by mail. If you can't attend the arbitration, you can entrust your relatives and friends in Macao to attend the mediation and arbitration on your behalf.

Legal basis:

The Macau Consumer Council has signed cooperation agreements with consumer associations (committees) in more than 40 provinces and cities in China and the All-China Tourism Association. According to the agreement, if consumers have a consumption dispute in Macao, they only need to complain to the consumer association (committee) in China or their place of residence after returning to the mainland. When the Macao Consumer Council receives a case from the All-China Consumers Association (the Committee) or the All-China Consumers Association, it will speed up the follow-up handling of the case and pass the mediation opinions and results to the All-China Consumers Association (the Committee) or China.
