On the morning of October 15th, a 45-person Taiwanese tour group encountered a rolling rock accident at the Three Gorges Renjia Scenic Area in Yichang, Hubei Province. Three Taiwanese tourists died and two Taiwanese tourists were injured. The Hubei Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office has launched an emergency response plan, and the main leaders of the Yichang Municipal Party Committee demanded a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident and serious accountability. The reporter learned from the Taiwan Affairs Office of Hubei Province that the three Taiwanese compatriots (2 men and 1 woman) killed in the accident were Ge Shiqiang, Li Zhiqiang and Wang Xuehong. The two injured tourists have been sent to Yichang Yiling Hospital for treatment. After the accident, the other 40 people in the tour group were safely evacuated. Currently, 30 people are about to go to Chongqing, the next stop of the tour group, and 10 people will stay in Yichang temporarily.

According to a report from the Yichang Municipal Government Office, after the accident, Zhou Ji, member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Yichang Municipal Party Committee, immediately issued instructions and rushed to the hospital to visit and express condolences to the injured tourists. He requested the Yiling District and Municipal Health Bureau to The Planning Commission and the Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office made every effort to treat the injured, properly deal with the aftermath, thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident, and strictly pursue accountability.

At present, the Yichang Municipal Government has set up a special investigation team to find out the cause of the accident. The relevant person in charge of the municipal government has led relevant departments to the scene for disposal.
