Zhejiang Travel Memory

The place we are going to talk about today is Shuikou Village, located in the northwest corner of Pingyang County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province.

The area of ??Shuikou Village is not too large, only 7.8 square kilometers. The world only knows that it is a beautiful and livable model village known as "Bingyang Shangri-La", but few people know that there is actually a "black history" about Shuikou Village that the locals are still unwilling to mention -

Before 2013, Shuikou Village had always been a village with pig raising as an important economic pillar.

"Pedestrians have to cover their noses when passing by, and cars don't dare to roll down their windows when passing by." If I hadn't heard these words from the villagers themselves, I wouldn't have believed it. The thousand-year-old ancient village here actually has the picturesque scenery it has today only since 2015.

We can imagine this:

You live in a mountain village far away from the town and make a living by raising pigs. Although the pig pen is dirty and smelly and the accommodation is simple, you can still make ends meet. The whole family lives hand to mouth. One day, the leader of the street suddenly informs you: From now on, all households will have to move to other places temporarily, and the village will undergo a major rest. An artificial lake needs to be dug in the open space at the entrance of the village to divert stream water into the pond and create a water landscape; the dilapidated ancestral houses need to be demolished and rebuilt, the land redistributed, and the ecology restocked... In short, we must vigorously develop tourism. In the future, people in our village will no longer have to do such dirty work as raising pigs, and every household will live a harmonious and beautiful life...

Then, what will you do? What do you think? Can't bear to give up the real life in front of me, or should I just follow the instructions from above?

Do you feel uneasy?

After all, everyone can draw "big cake", but it is just a vague idea. Furthermore, it has been 41 generations since Xu Longfu, the son of Qian Liu, King Wusu of Wu and Yue, moved here from Chi'an, Fujian in 959 AD. It is a veritable ancient village with thousands of years of history. Traditional ideas are deeply rooted. What if the "feng shui" of the ancestral hall is disturbed? That is the "backbone" of the old people!

What's more, beautifying a country is a process of "predecessors planting trees and later generations enjoying the shade". It can take at least one or two years or as long as three to five years to complete the green water and green mountains, which is exactly the term of a leader. , the great "gold and silver mountain" is equivalent to making a wedding dress for the descendants, why are you willing to do so?

So many worries. If there are short-sighted people who hold back and refuse to cooperate, then it is conceivable that the village-wide "mobilization to demolish homes" is a huge and difficult project.

However, Shuikou Village succeeded.

I can’t imagine how much mobilization work the village cadres have done by going from house to house, but when I saw the towering “Xu Family Temple” under the lush trees and bamboos, it seemed to become clear in an instant. This is a cohesive village.

Shuikou Village

Driving along a flat road into a forest valley surrounded by mountains, as soon as I parked my car, my eyes suddenly opened up.

The brand new asphalt road, the snow-white house walls, the curling smoke, the old people working in the fields... everything is like a purely natural pastoral picture.

One side of the road here is farmland, and the houses on the other side are black tiles and white walls. I was particularly impressed by the farmland, which looked like the kind of fields we see in paintings.

The crops in the fields are divided into small areas, high and low, and the villagers are working in the fields just like we saw in the paintings - wearing yellow straw hats and simple farm clothes, casually The sleeves were rolled up, and a section of white was revealed from the rolled-up sleeves. Everything was so natural and pure...

The day we went was not a weekend, there was no grand festival, and there were no special events held in the village. , it can be seen from this that such pastoral scenery is not a specially displayed picture, it is the daily life of the people of Shuikou Village.

This situation is so enviable.

Let’s talk about the scenery of Shuikou Village.

There is a special [bridge] here.

Local people said that it is more convenient to enter and exit the village through this bridge without taking a long detour. But it has now been protected as a "historic monument". Although it is not long ago, its significance is very far-reaching.

This bridge was built in 1978 and is already 40 years old. It is a memory of before there was a road in Shuikou Village. People who walked across this bridge in those years are now elderly or middle-aged people. .

40 years ago, many places were already building roads, but Shuikou Village had just built a bridge, and the villagers had just been able to go out of the mountains to see the outside world. In just a few decades, Shuikou Village has experienced earth-shaking changes.

Shuikou Village, as its name suggests, is a village near water. The water resources here are exceptionally rich. Water can be said to be Shuikou Village's "gift". Therefore, there are many water-related scenery in Shuikou Village. In addition to bridges, there is also a Hundred Water Terrace and a natural swimming pool.

In fact, every village has its own "talent", just like everyone has their own advantages brought from the womb, but each village has a different fate. Some people are completely enlightened when they are children and rely on their talent for a lifetime; some people only discover when they are old that their life's efforts have been wrong. Shuikou Village is undoubtedly a "late bloomer" village.

With a history of thousands of years, it has only suddenly "enlightened" in recent years. Perhaps, it is fortunate that it was born in Zhejiang, a land of beautiful people.

[Baishui Terrace]

The style of this waterscape was designed by the village director himself when it was built. It is regarded as a "signature attraction" in Shuikou Village and can be seen as soon as you enter the village.

Hundreds of streams gather on the gentle slope, gurgling down. When the sun shines, they are colorful, and the lens shines with dazzling luster.

Looking from a distance, there is a row of boats moored on the river bank. Visitors can not only swim but also dine by boat.

"The dining table on and off the raft" is a major feature of Shuikou Village.

The boat goes straight down the river and can float to any place downstream. The downstream waterway is designed to be quite interesting. It is not only an ornamental lake, but also a natural swimming pool.

The water temperature here is about 25 degrees all year round, the water level is 1.3 meters, and the water is clear, making it the most concentrated place for tourists.

Sitting on the shore to rest, I observed that many people wearing swimsuits were obviously traveling with their families. The adults are practicing diving, while the children are splashing and having fun on the side. The quiet and dense forest above their heads is like a natural umbrella.

Get up and walk along the wooden plank road by the water. The small wooden houses next to you are unique B&Bs built near the water.

I fell asleep listening to the chirping of insects and got up early the next day. It is a rare leisure and comfort to visit the ancestral hall in the village in the morning mist, admire the thousand-year Shuikou culture, and then have a country breakfast.
