Brief introduction of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan

Located at the southernmost tip of Yunnan Province, with an area of 19582.45 square kilometers. Xishuangbanna is famous for its magical tropical rain forest natural landscape and ethnic customs, and it is one of the popular tourist cities in China. "Xishuangbanna" is a A Dai language, and "Xishuangbanna" means twelve. "Banna" refers to the administrative unit that provided feudal taxes (literally translated as "12,000 paddy fields"), actually referring to 12 administrative regions.

Xishuangbanna is located in the southern extension of Hengduan Mountains, at the end of the Nujiang, Lancang and Jinshajiang fold systems, with mountains and hills accounting for about 95% and mountain basins (bazi) and river valleys accounting for about 5%. The state is high around, low in the middle, high in the northwest and low in the southeast. With the Lancang River as the boundary, it is divided into three geomorphic areas: central, western and eastern. The vast mountains in the east run through the northeast of Jinghong City and Mengla County, with an altitude of 1000- 1500m.

Xishuangbanna is a mountainous landform, and the whole terrain is highly cut. The highest point in the state is the slippery bamboo beam in the northeast of Menghai, with an altitude of 2429.5 meters, and the lowest point is the Lancang River Valley in the southwest of two corners of Mengla County, with an altitude of 470 meters.
