It is the back garden of the Yangtze River Delta region and the lake with the largest number of islands in the world. It is named after 1,78 emerald islands in the lake, and it is also called "the three largest Qiandao Lakes in the world" with Kingston Qiandao Lake, more than 2 kilometers southwest of Ottawa, Canada, and Yangxin Xiandao Lake in Huangshi, Hubei.
