How was Hangzhou selected as a sample city of global tourism best practices?

It is reported that the Hangzhou Tourism Commission recently received an official letter from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) congratulating Hangzhou on being selected as one of the 15 sample cities of tourism best practices in the world. The reason for Hangzhou's successful selection is: because of the positive and outstanding social and cultural impact of tourism on the city.

According to the report, as the official organization of world tourism, UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) launched the selection of "sample cities of global tourism best practices" in December 216. Through the special investigation and field performance evaluation by the expert group of the World Tourism Organization, it aims to identify 15 "samples of global tourism best practices" among its 193 member countries, which can be popularized in global destination cities.

According to relevant persons, the project of "Global Tourism Best Practice Sample" has set 18 core index systems and several sub-project index systems in five major areas of "urban tourism practice", among which five major areas are "urban economy", "urban environment", "urban management", "tourism social culture" and "new tourism technology and business model", and cities around the world can choose one of them to declare according to their advantages.

Hangzhou chose "tourism social and cultural field" to declare and accept the evaluation of the World Tourism Organization. In March and April of 217, the World Tourism Organization sent an expert group to Hangzhou for field investigation and evaluation. In September, the World Tourism Organization held a special evaluation meeting, and through the investigation and performance evaluation of the expert group of the World Tourism Organization, Hangzhou was officially determined to be one of the 15 "sample cities of global tourism best practices".
