How to choose an outing backpack?
Whether you are trekking through thousands of mountains and rivers, or traveling through towns and villages, there is one thing that is indispensable when traveling, and that is a backpack. In my impression, travelers look like people who are rushing on their way with heavy luggage on their backs, and there is a certain coolness in their attire. In the upcoming holiday, do you want to make your trip "professional"? In this issue of "Self-Traveling", we will tell you about the knowledge of choosing a backpack
■Backpack classification
Usually small backpacks do not have brackets, while larger backpacks will have brackets. This is to make the person carrying it feel more comfortable. The brackets are divided into external brackets and internal brackets, so backpacks are also called "external frame bags" and "inner frame bags".
The "external frame bag" divides the space for carrying items into several places. Backpackers can easily place various items and adjust the position of the center of gravity (usually the center of gravity of the external frame bag is relatively high). At the same time, there is a certain gap between the outer frame bag and the backpacker's back, which facilitates air flow and keeps the backpacker's back dry. In addition, backpackers can also use external brackets to easily secure other items.
The "inner frame bag" was originally designed for climbers. It is narrower than the outer frame bag in order to allow the upper body to move more freely. The design of the "inner frame bag" makes the backpack more closely integrated with the body, which helps to maintain the body's balance, so it is more suitable for rugged mountain roads. The disadvantage of the "inner shelf bag" is that there is less space separation, which makes it more troublesome to load and pick up items. You need to reasonably arrange the placement of items and the position of the center of gravity according to the itinerary plan to avoid losing the backpack due to the need to use a certain item on the way. All items inside are turned out.
■Filling and using the backpack
First determine the position of the center of gravity according to the characteristics of the trip. If it is a flat road or an uphill road, the center of gravity needs to be raised higher, while if it is going downhill, the center of gravity needs to be raised. Lower the center of gravity; secondly, consider the items that may be commonly used during the march. These items should be placed as high as possible. Generally, the sleeping bag is placed on the bottom layer, and then other items are filled in the order of use. When placing, place relatively heavy items on the side closer to the stand so that the center of gravity is closer to the back.
■How to choose a backpack that suits you?
The size and type of backpack required should be determined based on the intended use.
A backpack of about 25 liters is enough for a one-day outing, while a long-distance trip or camping of more than 2 to 3 days may require a backpack of 45 to 70 liters or even larger. Generally speaking, men choose a backpack of about 55 liters, and women choose a 45-liter backpack. If it is used to climb snowy mountains, you need to consider whether the backpack has ice ax hanging loops and crampon straps/bags; when traveling in summer or arid areas, a backpack with a water bag device can provide great convenience. Equipment manufacturers will produce backpacks with various functions according to different needs. You can ask the equipment store for details when purchasing.
In addition, before choosing a backpack, you first need to measure your upper body length (that is, the distance from the protrusion of the cervical vertebra to the last lumbar vertebra). If it is less than 46 cm, you should choose a small backpack, and 46 to 51 cm is suitable. Medium-sized backpack, if it is larger than 51 cm, you should choose a large-sized backpack.
Small backpacks of 20 to 30 liters can be purchased in shopping malls and supermarkets. Generally, backpacks exceeding 45 liters need to be purchased from specialized travel and outdoor product stores.
At present, there are not many backpack brands on the domestic market, the main ones are BIGPACK, OZARK, NIKKO, PROGIANT, and VAUDE, which are suitable for different types of travelers.
