Resources, Environment and Employment of Urban and Rural Planning and Management Specialty

The names of resources, environment, urban and rural planning and management are amazing. There are both resources and environment and urban and rural planning and management. All four famous professional names in modern society are included. However, Baidu checked and missed the bottom. Its original appearance is a secondary major under geographical science. It is not so much resources, environment and urban and rural planning and management as applied geography. I don't know why the country wants to set up this major. It may be to reserve regional planning talents, to enrich the future civil servants, or to train knowledge-based urban management team members. But this major really makes countless students very depressed and helpless. The extensive but not refined discipline features have created a batch of students majoring in urban planning to enter the postgraduate entrance examination army or the national examination team.

I don't want to comment too much on this major here and there. The specialty setting must go through complicated investigation and study. Even if the so-called experts and scholars are pedantic now, I believe they will not fool people with useless majors. Since it exists, it must conform to the law of social and historical development and be particularly objective and useful. I have been in Qufu since I stepped into Qu Yuan's school gate in 2008, and now I am about to walk out of the school gate from Rizhao (wow, I stepped into the school gate from southwest Shandong and crossed the Yellow Sea at once). After four years, I finally found the affiliation of this major. Just as I was wandering in the postgraduate entrance examination army for nearly a year and was about to become a Buddha and an immortal, I suddenly discovered the beauty of the world. Now I will state my professional views on my recent job hunting experience and what I have seen and heard. What I said is for reference only.

First of all, we should restore the true nature of this major and give it an accurate positioning, that is, a fixed position. Don't be fooled by his appearance, saying that he is better than not studying energy, and that he is better than not studying environmental engineering and ecological landscape; Speaking of urban and rural planning, he can't compare with people who study civil engineering in urban planning; When it comes to management, he can't compare with administrative management and enterprise management. Remember, he is located under geographical science, and his essence is geographical science, so his position is the applied subject of geographical science. If GIS remote sensing is the technical application of geography, then the management of resources, environment and urban and rural planning is the theoretical application of geography. Theory must be combined with practice to be dynamic, so how to apply geography? As we know, geography pays attention to the relationship between man and land, which is not only the natural environment, but also the earth's surface system, and man is not only a person living in the earth's surface system, but also a social person. The place of pure research is natural geography, while the theoretical research on man-land focuses more on human geography (human economic activities, political activities and cultural activities). Then the combination is to seek the harmony between the natural environment and human activities, and the word is planning. The object of planning is not only the natural environment, but also human activities. At present, planning generally includes two directions, namely, urban planning and tourism planning. Of course, there is also regional macro planning. However, regional planning involves the country's macro-strategy, which is beyond our personal control, unless the head of state is a professional. Therefore, this paper focuses on urban planning and tourism planning. As mentioned above, there is an engineering major in urban planning. Here I want to talk about the difference between the two urban planning. The urban planning of the project focuses on detailed planning, covering every house and street lamp in detail. What they want to achieve is an artistic beauty. Geographical urban planning pays more attention to a general control plan, that is, where to build factories and residential areas. The planning of geography pursues a kind of harmony with nature, and he considers more natural attributes, that is, climatic conditions, hydrological conditions, vegetation, ecological environment, settlement scale and so on. What he pursues is a kind of coordination between man and land. In view of the fact that the location of most cities has been determined, the layout and development of cities are seriously affected by national policies, and students with geographical backgrounds dare not compliment their drawing skills, so geographical urban planning is often ignored in urban planning circles. Often only graduate students of human geography can barely enter the planning and design institute. Undergraduates can only cast envious eyes, and then resolutely make up their minds to take the postgraduate entrance examination. Maybe they can only complete their dream of engaging in urban planning by taking the postgraduate entrance examination.

That's the truth. It seems that our undergraduates majoring in urban planning can't get along. So let's look at tourism planning. Tourism planning is a new industry in recent years. At present, the country is vigorously developing the tertiary industry, especially tourism. As a result, a barren hill, a small river and even a bunch of trees have become tourist attractions. What do you need for tourism planning? If you plan mountains, you need to know about mountains and geology. If you plan a river, you need to know about water and hydrology. If you plant small forests, you need to know about plants and soil, and you need to know about plant geography and soil geography. In addition, natural factors such as climate factors should also be taken into account. The purpose of planning is to attract tourists to travel, so the layout of tourist destinations and the planning of service facilities around tourist destinations need to be considered in detail by planners, which requires our theoretical knowledge of economic geography, tourism geography and so on to be enriched. Between the natural landscape of a tourist destination and tourists, another important aspect is how to coordinate the relationship between tourist destinations and tourists. On the one hand, we should make tourists happy. On the other hand, we should strengthen the protection of the natural environment. In short, it is necessary to coordinate the relationship between people and land in a tourist destination. The relationship between man and land is the focus of our geographers' research. Therefore, tourism planning is exactly where our students majoring in urban planning play their role.

We don't need advanced academic knowledge of graduate students and doctoral students, nor do we need obscure mechanical principles of engineering students. What we need is a disciplinary thinking, a rigorous, comprehensive, coordinated, sustainable and energetic way of thinking. Of course, we need to learn the necessary drawing operation ability in practice. After all, the plan is finally displayed in the form of a graphic model.

Obviously, it is not so much resources, environment and urban and rural planning and management as applied geography and tourism planning. Of course, if you really want to make a good plan, a solid knowledge of geography is far from enough, and a certain knowledge of landscape architecture, economics and urban planning is also essential. I believe that as long as we position ourselves accurately, be strict with ourselves, and have a passion for constantly seeking knowledge and learning, our students majoring in resources, environment and urban and rural planning and management will definitely occupy a place in this society, even if they don't take the postgraduate entrance examination and join the national examination army, they will certainly realize their dreams.
