Kongtong Mountain is located in Pingliang City, Gansu Province.

Kongtong Mountain is a fortress on the western exit of Guanzhong on the Silk Road, located in Pingliang City, Gansu Province. Since ancient times, it has been known as "the first mountain of Taoism in China". It borders Liupan Mountain to the west, Qinchuan 800 miles to the east, Guan Mountain to the south, Xiaoguan Mountain to the north, surrounded by Jing River and Rouge River from north to south, and intersects in front of Wangjia Mountain. The altitude is between 1456-2123.5 meters, and the vertical height is 667.5 meters, the main peak is 2123 meters above sea level, the forest coverage rate is more than 95%, and the total area is 83.6 square kilometers.

Kongtong has many peaks, including dozens of large and small peaks. The highest peak is Xiangshan, with an altitude of 2123 meters; the main peak is Mazong Mountain, with an altitude of 2025 meters, stacked on five platforms; there are five platforms in the east, west, south, north and middle. The middle platform protrudes and the platforms are surrounded by them, shaped like a lotus. Zhongtai is the center of Kongtong Mountain, with an altitude of 1,894 meters. The terrain is flat and wide, and the view is broad.

Kongtong Mountain Plant Resources

Kongtong Mountain is rich in animal and plant resources. There are more than 1,000 known species of plants, including 30 species of ferns in 21 families, 18 genera, and gymnophytes. There are 15 species of plants in 6 families, 9 genera and 703 species of angiosperms in 97 families, 397 genera and 97 genera. There are nearly 60 species of ancient and famous trees including purple-fruited spruce, tabby pine, juniper, five-cornered maple, liaotung oak, large-fruited elm, and silk cottonwood. Although the two trees of Zhaohetang Peacock Cypress and Fenghuangling "Millennium Canopy" are over a thousand years old, they are still lush and full of vitality.

Due to the assistance of different climatic conditions, Kongtong Mountain has formed a natural garden, attracting free-range bees from the south to the north, and has become the most extensive nectar source base in eastern Longxi. It is also a treasure house of natural medicinal sources. There are hundreds of kinds of wild high-grade medicinal materials. The famous Chinese and foreign angelica, aroids, aesculus, mistletoe, iron stick mallet, Zhongning wolfberry, etc. are widely distributed. Kongtong Mountain is not only rich in higher plants, but also a lot of fungi. Mushrooms, Hericium, fungus, Ganoderma lucidum, etc. all grow. Summer and autumn are the peak seasons for fungi every year.
