The Ding Bay in the east corner of Xiaocheng Town is the waters of Gantang Port, a thousand-year-old port opened by Wang Shenzhi, the king of Fujian. It was an important overseas trade port in ancient Fujian. It was the first time for China and Australia to jointly conduct underwater research. The archaeological "Baijiao" site is a provincial historical relic protection unit. There are famous "Thousand Meters of Golden Sands", "Ten Scenic Spots of Dinghai", "Thirteen Beaches" and "Thirty-six Reefs" within the territory. There are still surviving Yongning Temple of Song Dynasty, Beacon Tower of Yuan Dynasty, Jiulong Temple of Ming Dynasty, Dinghai Ancient Castle, the Tomb of the Wuzhong of the Anti-Japanese War, the Qing Dynasty Ryukyu Merchant Tomb, Persian Manichaean Stone Carvings, City God Temple and Mazu Palace and other historical and cultural monuments.
