Lanzhou University of Arts and Science was formerly known as Gansu Education College founded in 1950 and Gansu Union University founded in 1985. 20 1 1, Gansu Art School merged; 20 13 An ordinary undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education was renamed Lanzhou University of Arts and Sciences.

The school is the first batch of pilot institutions for transformation and development in Gansu Province. It is the first "civilized campus" in Gansu Province and a "model college" for Party building in Gansu Province in the new period.
