Is Nanjing Museum worth visiting?
Very worthwhile. I suggest you visit with a long knowledge and learning attitude. The internal collections are all peerless treasures and cultural relics, which contain too many historical allusions and knowledge.
The three most famous museums in China include Beijing Palace Museum, Nanjing Museum and Taibei Palace Museum. Most of China's 5,000-year-old important cultural relics are collected in these three museums. Among them, the Palace Museum has a total collection of more than 6,543,800 pieces, the Nanjing Museum has more than 430,000 pieces, the National Palace Museum in Taipei has more than 696,000 pieces, and the three museums have almost 300 pieces.
Among the three major museums in China, Nanjing Museum is the only one that is open to tourists free of charge, and it is so low-key that it does not apply for the qualification of 5A-level tourist attractions. In fact, the service level of Nanjing Museum is absolutely no less than any 5A-level tourist attraction in China. Therefore, among many tourist attractions in Nanjing, Nanjing Museum has always been one of the most popular attractions, and it is also a must-see attraction for domestic and foreign tourists to punch in after arriving at the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties.
Nanjing Museum is located next to Zhongshan Scenic Area and adjacent to the Ming Palace Ruins Park in the west. Nanjing Museum is the earliest museum established in China, the first large-scale comprehensive museum invested by the state in China, and the national comprehensive museum of history and art. Now it is a national first-class museum, the first batch of national museums in the central and local governments, a national AAAA tourist attraction and a national key cultural relics protection unit.

Nanjing Museum was founded in 1933. Its predecessor was the National Central Museum initiated by Peking University, the first director of education in the Republic of China, and Cai Yuanpei, president of Sino-French University. After more than 80 years of development, Nanjing Museum has formed a pattern of "one hospital and six museums". The so-called six museums refer to the history museum, special exhibition hall, digital museum, art museum, non-legacy museum and Republic of China museum, which are the first of many museums in China. Among the six museums in Nanjing Museum, History Museum, Digital Museum and Republic of China Museum are the most famous and attractive.

According to official website data of Nanjing Museum, there are 432,768 pieces (sets) of various collections in Nanjing Museum, including 37 pieces1032 pieces (sets) of precious cultural relics. The number of precious cultural relics ranks second in China, second only to the Palace Museum in Beijing. Many of these precious cultural relics are displayed in the history museum. With the theme of ancient civilization in Jiangsu, the History Museum shows the typical water town culture in southern China, as well as the diversity, richness and originality of ancient material culture and spiritual culture in Jiangsu from Paleolithic to Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is the best window for tourists to know Jiangsu, get familiar with Jiangsu and appreciate its splendid ancient civilization.

The History Museum is divided into six exhibition halls: Ancient Impression, Prehistoric Charm and Wu Yue Spring and Autumn Period, Zhang Guohua Han Hometown, Sui and Tang Dynasties, Jianghuai, Song and Yuan Dynasties, and Jiangnan Prosperity in Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are many impressive cultural relics here, such as Jade Cong, Jade Man, Golden Crown, Honghu glass tower arch, Chu currency and bronze bells in the Warring States period, etc. In particular, a hard clay pot with geometric patterns unearthed from a tomb of the Western Zhou Dynasty in Fushan Orchard, Jurong, Jiangsu, made many tourists stop to watch. Pottery pots are not very special, especially when they are full of eggs. According to experts' research, these eggs are from the Western Zhou Dynasty.
There are also some cultural relics in the history museum that should not be missed. Among them, there are jade ornaments carved with birds and beasts unearthed from Zhaoling Mountain site in Kunshan City, golden beasts unearthed from Mahudian in Xuyi County, plum bottles with red and cold patterns unearthed from the Ming tomb of Xianglongshan in Dongshan Bridge in Jiangning District, silver jade clothes unearthed from the tomb of descendants of Wang Liugong in Pengcheng, Xuzhou, jade cong unearthed from Gaocheng Wharf in Jiangyin City, and scattered unearthed from the Eastern Han Tomb of Ganquan No.2 in Hanjiang County.
