The family was very poor and the couple lived together. One summer, the couple worked hard in the fields all day and rested outside in the evening. Suddenly it started raining heavily, and Li's wife fell asleep naked. She was discovered by the male dragon who was traveling in the rain, and he mated with Li's wife. Later, it burst out of his mother's belly, and his mother died. After the dragon was born, it coiled on the roof beam. When a man surnamed Li saw that a monster had been born and his wife died, he couldn't help but get angry and took a sickle to chop it to death. Xiaolong hurriedly fled out the door, but a man named Li caught up and chopped off his tail. It screamed and flew into the sky. Because he was missing his tail, people called him "Bald-tailed Old Li."
