Three Hundred Words Diary of Traveling to Pingyao Ancient City

One of the stops during the summer vacation - Pingyao Ancient City.

The ancient city of Pingyao is an outstanding example of a Han Chinese city in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is one of the most complete ancient cities in existence. Its entire shape resembles a turtle, so it is also called Turtle City. It has six main gates, namely the south gate of the turtle head, the north gate of the turtle tail, and the four turtle claws: the upper east gate, the lower east gate, the upper west gate and the lower west gate.

When I walked into the city, I felt like I had traveled through time. The streets are paved with large bluestones, and the houses on both sides of the street are all made of wood, just like in costume dramas. The roofs are paved with black tiles, the windows and doors are hollowed out and carved, painted red, and the beams are painted with Various oil paints. Some of the facade houses along the street are selling snacks, and the wooden tables and chairs used are also hollow, full of ancient charm; some shops sell folk handicrafts made of cloth; some sell varnished handicrafts; African drum, the shopkeeper plays music and performs with a strong sense of rhythm... There is also a street full of bars. Each bar has a unique decoration style without losing its ancient charm. Every street here looks similar, and so do the architectural styles of the houses. You don’t have to worry about finding the exit here, because the streets and alleys here extend in all directions, and you can always turn onto the main street.

The houses here are all courtyard houses. We stayed in a house called Xianda Inn. Go up the pure wooden stairs to the second floor. The bed in the room is called a Kang. It is made of blue bricks and is tall and large enough to sleep four people. The wooden chairs, tables and paper lamps in the house are all antique. If it weren't for the modern bathroom, TV and Internet, I would have thought I had traveled through time. Here you can feel the life of the ancients.

Attractions in the ancient city include China's first bank account, Rishengchang, which is now a bank. There are also the famous Escort Bureau, Confucian Temple, County Government Museum, city walls, etc. Standing on the city wall, you can have a panoramic view of the whole city.

There are many snacks here, including bowls, Pingyao cakes, noodles, noodles, castella, etc., and the taste is average. But the sea buckthorn juice and pear juice I drank were delicious. I said they were local specialties and not sold elsewhere.

The ancient Pingyao City is a very special place, I think I will come again.
