Up to now, it has become the name of Maitreya Dojo, the fifth famous Buddhist mountain in China, but Xuedou Mountain and Fan Jingshan are still controversial.
Introduction of Five Famous Buddhist Mountains in China 1: Wutai Mountain: Wutai Mountain ranks first among the five famous Buddhist mountains in China, and is known as the "Golden Wutai", which is the Dojo of Manjushri. Wutai Mountain is the only Buddhist Dojo in China where Qingshan Temple (Han Buddhism) and Huangshan Temple (Tibetan Buddhism) complement each other. It is said that there are 128 temples, and there are 47 existing temples, 39 inside Taiwan and 8 outside Taiwan. Many of them were built and emperors of many dynasties came to pay homage. The famous ones are: Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple, Bodhisattva Top, Nanshan Temple, Dailuoding Temple, Guangji Temple, Wanfo Pavilion and so on.
Wutai Mountain is the Dojo of Manjusri Bodhisattva. In the 11th year of Yongping (68), Morten and Zhu Falan came to Liang Qing to build the Dafuling vulture temple. Kaishan Temple in Wutai Mountain, which is now Xiantong Temple, is the oldest Buddhist temple in China, and it is also the earliest temple building record in China. In the history of Buddhism in China, there have been four "extinction events", with Wutai Mountain bearing the brunt. The mid-Tang Dynasty was the heyday of Buddhism in China, and Buddhism in China was maturing. At that time, there were more than 360 temples in Wutai Mountain. The murals of Wutai Mountain in Cave 6 1 Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang reflect the scenery of Wutai Mountain in its heyday.
2. Putuo Mountain: Putuo Mountain is the most famous and magical Guanyin Dojo in China. Buddhist shrines and monasteries, big or small, are dedicated to Guanyin. It can be said to be the hometown of Guanyin. On the 19th of February, 19th of June and 19th of September of the lunar calendar, Guanyin Bodhisattva's birthday, becoming a monk and gaining enlightenment were three incense parties. The whole mountain was crowded with people, and the temple was filled with cigarettes, giving a scene of Buddha's light. Mount Putuo is known as the "Buddha Country at Sea" and "Holy Land of the South China Sea", and it is also a famous island scenic spot.
Putuo Mountain Buddhism has a long history, which was founded in the Tang Dynasty and is the Guanyin Dojo. During the Tang Dynasty (847-860 AD), a monk (also known as a monk from the Western Regions) came to the mountain to worship Buddha. It is said that Guanyin was seen in Yin Chao Cave. In the fourth year of Xian Tong in Tang Dynasty (AD 863), Japanese monk Hua Hui demanded that the Guanyin statue of Wutai Mountain be returned to China. When passing through the Putuo Mountain Sea, he was prevented from touching Silla Reef and landed in Yin Chao Cave, leaving the Buddha statue in the house for worship, saying that he refused to go to Kannonji. Since then, the Guanyin Dojo has begun.
3. Mount Emei: In the 8th century, Zen was the only one, and the whole mountain was unified with Zen. In the middle of the 9th century, Zhao Kuangyin, Song Taizu, sent a group of monks headed by monks to visit India. After returning to China, he came to Mount Emei to build a Buddhist temple, translated the scriptures and spread the teachings, and cast a giant bronze Buddha statue of Pu Xian with a respect of 62 tons and a height of 7.85 meters, which was enshrined in the Wannian Temple and became a masterpiece of the Buddha statue in Mount Emei, with high cultural and artistic value. For thousands of years, Mount Emei, the "Buddhist Holy Land", has been known as the "Pu Xian Dojo", and is also known as the four famous Buddhist mountains in China along with Wutai Mountain in Shanxi, Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang and Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui. Until the fifth famous mountain appeared.
In the past long time, Mount Emei not only accumulated rich Buddhist cultural treasures, but also left a lot of precious cultural relics. There are 30 temples in the scenic area, with a construction area of about 6.5438+10,000 square meters. Among them, Feilai Hall and the flat brick hall of Wannian Temple are national first-and second-class protection products. There are many kinds of Buddhist articles, 5.8 meters high, with seven sides 14 floors. Huayan Copper Pagoda, bronze Buddha statue of Wannian Temple in Ming Dynasty and Bayeux Sutra presented by Siam King in Ming Dynasty are all excellent works.
4. Jiuhua Mountain: Jiuhua Mountain is said to be the Dojo of the Earth Treasure King Bodhisattva. Jiuhua Mountain has 99 peaks, of which 9 are the most majestic, such as Tiantai, Ten Kings, Lotus and Tianzhu. Mountains and valleys, streams and waterfalls, strange peaks and caves, pine, cypress and bamboo, the beautiful scenery set each other off. Places of interest are strewn at random. Jiuhua Mountain, with its ancient temples and cigarette smoke, is a holy place for good men and women to worship. Jiuhua Mountain, with its beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, is a good place for summer vacation.
Jiuhua Mountain has more than 80 temples and more than 300 monks and nuns, and has gradually become a scenic tourist area with Buddhist characteristics. Among the five famous Buddhist mountains in China, Jiuhua Mountain is famous at home and abroad with the double laurels of "the best incense in the world" and "the first mountain in the southeast". Jiuhuashan Buddhism is the product of Buddhists spreading the world and guiding the integration of Confucianism and Taoism. Jiuhuashan is the Buddhist nature formed by the interaction of Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism. As a kind of cultural nature, Jiuhua Mountain has been bearing the folk belief in Tibetan spirit for thousands of years, and this belief and its activities have bred the specific culture of Jiuhua Mountain.
The fifth mountain has always been controversial.
The first one is Xuedou Mountain: Xuedou Mountain is Maitreya Dojo, which has been discussed in Buddhism for a long time. The Dictionary of Buddhism published by 1922 records that according to the characteristics of Buddhism in China and China's "Five Elements", "Five Sides" and "Five Great Bodhisattvas", Putuo Guanyin belongs to the fire in the south (meaning sorrow is a flood), while Emei Pu Xian belongs to the gold (meaning fire) and Wutai in the west. Xuedou Mountain is one of the five famous Buddhist mountains in China.
From 65438 to 0984, Xuedou Mountain was recommended as one of the five famous Buddhist mountains by Zhao Puchu, president of the Chinese Buddhist Association. During the period of 1987, Zhao Puchu, then vice chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the Chinese Buddhist Association, inspected Xuedou Temple, saying that Xuedou Temple is the place where Maitreya Buddha should be transformed and Xuedou Mountain is a famous mountain with five mountains. It is suggested that a Maitreya Hall be added to Xuedou Temple under reconstruction, which is not available in other temples to highlight the characteristics of Wuyue and Maitreya Dojo, and the temple forehead of "Xuedou Zisheng Temple" is inscribed.
The second is Fan Jing: Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the legends of Maitreya Buddha and Fan Jingshan have been widely circulated among local people. The ancients built two temples, Sakyamuni and Maitreya, on the new Jinding, as the highest symbols of Buddhism in Fan Jing. In 2004, "China Fan Jing Buddhist Culture Seminar" was held in Huguo Temple in Yinjiang. Speaking on behalf of the Chinese Buddhist Association, Mr. Xue Cheng, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Buddhist Association, said, "Fan Jing is a famous Maitreya Bodhisattva Dojo in China, and a famous Buddhist mountain in China, which is equally famous as the Manjusri Dojo in Wutai Mountain, the Tibetan Bodhisattva Dojo in Mount Jiuhua, Anhui Province and the Guanyin Bodhisattva Dojo in Putuo Mountain, Zhejiang Province.
May 65438+May 2005, on the eighth day of April in the ancient calendar, in order to commemorate Sakyamuni's 2549th birthday, the first "Buddha Birthday Festival of Huguo Temple in Fan Jing, China" was held in Yinjiang. They fully affirmed Fan Jing's position in the history of Buddhism in China. Master Xuecheng once again affirmed Fan Jing as "the five famous Buddhist mountains in China" and personally inscribed the name of "Fan Jing Maitreya Bodhisattva Dojo". The monument stands in the Huguo Temple in Yinjiang County, and together with the newly unearthed 10 Ming Dynasty Buddha statues, it is the "treasure of the town hall".
