What is journalism?

Journalism is an undergraduate major in colleges and universities, which belongs to literature major. The basic study period is four years, and the bachelor of arts degree is awarded.

This major focuses on literature, politics and sociology, and is closely related to philosophy, economics, management, art, psychology and history. This major has a strong political nature, which requires students to adhere to the Marxist view of journalism and correct their political stance.

At the same time, it is practical and comprehensive, which requires that teaching can keep up with the rapid development of media practice, and students can master solid knowledge of news communication and be competent for news communication related industries in the future.

Journalism major aims to cultivate compound talents who can engage in news practice such as news interview, writing, editing, commentary and photography in various media, and engage in news propaganda in party and government organs, enterprises and institutions.

Direction of news employment

Generally speaking, journalism students have three corresponding directions after graduation: journalism (including professional media and news propaganda departments of some units), public relations and advertising, with a wide range of employment fields.

In addition to jobs in media content production, journalism students are also suitable for advertising, public relations, communication, university, enterprise propaganda, government propaganda and other aspects. Television program director is also an ideal job for many graduates. In recent years, variety shows, especially reality shows, have become popular, and there is a shortage of talents in TV broadcasting, editing and talent selection.

Offline periodical editors, such as magazine editors, are also a good choice. Magazine editors need to have certain advertising knowledge, preferably working experience in tourism, training, real estate, decorative building materials, catering and entertainment industries.

In the end, some graduates who are not engaged in the media industry have become public relations and planning of enterprises or governments, engaged in public relations propaganda work, and some outstanding graduates have become college teachers.
