Hainan Province is a special economic zone and a free trade pilot zone (port) in China. Located in the south of China, it borders Qiongzhou Strait in the north, Guangxi and Viet Nam in the west, Taiwan Province Province in the South China Sea in the east, and the Philippines, Brunei and Malaysia in the southeast and south respectively.

Hainan Island is low and flat around, high in the middle, with dome-shaped mountainous terrain, with Wuzhishan and Ying Ge Ridge as the core of uplift and gradually descending around. The annular layered landform is composed of mountains, hills, platforms and plains, and has obvious cascade structure.

Geographical environment:

Seen from the plane, Hainan Island looks like an oval Sydney, located in the blue sea. The major axis of Hainan Island is northeast-southwest, about 300 kilometers long, and the minor axis is northwest-southeast, about 180 kilometers long, covering an area of about 34,000 square kilometers. It is the second largest island in China after Taiwan Province Province.

Hainan Island is separated from Qiongzhou Strait in the north and faces Leizhou Peninsula. Qiongzhou Strait, about 30 kilometers wide, is a maritime "corridor" between Hainan Island and Chinese mainland, and also a shipping channel between Beibu Gulf and South China Sea. Due to its proximity to the mainland, majestic mountains and towering Wuzhishan, Hainan Island can be seen faintly from the southern coast of Leizhou Peninsula when the weather is clear and there are no clouds in Wan Li.

Hainan Island is a coastal island with a short history but beautiful scenery, and it is the second largest island in China. In geological period, Hainan Island was initially connected with Cathaysian mainland, and then it was an island formed by fault depression. From the plane, Hainan Island looks like a Sydney, lying across the blue sea of the South China Sea.

On the map of Qing Dynasty, the largest island in China is Sakhalin Island in the northeast corner, which is bigger than Taiwan Province Island, Hainan Island and Chongming Island combined. Hainan Island was originally the third largest island in China. 1860, Russia ceded the island through the Sino-Russian Beijing Treaty. Since then, the largest island in China has become the island of Taiwan Province Province, and the second largest island has become Hainan Island.
