How many laws are in force in China?

At the beginning of 2008, the Press Office of the State Council released the appendix "Classified Catalogue of Existing Laws in People's Republic of China (PRC)" to the white paper "Rule of Law in China" (hereinafter referred to as "White Paper Catalogue"). By then, China had 229 effective laws (including the Constitution). Subsequently, Chairman Wu Bangguo's report on the work of the NPC Standing Committee at the first meeting of the 11th National People's Congress also said that there were 229 laws in force in China at that time.

Based on the Catalogue of White Papers, according to the laws newly passed and abolished in China in the last three years, by the end of 20 10, there were 237 laws (including constitutions) in force in China. Since then, anti-espionage law, special equipment safety law, tourism law, entry and exit management law and mental health law have been promulgated one after another.
