Originally an island off the southeast coast of Jimei, there was a small temple called Aotou Palace, also known as Li Qian Palace, which was destroyed by the Japanese in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. 1950, Mr Chen Jiageng built the Olympic Garden on the site.
There are Jimei Liberation Monument and Mr. Chen Jiageng's Mausoleum in the Olympic Park, which is a national key cultural relic protection unit. There are 15 relief images of Mr. Chen Jiageng's important experience in the first half of his life on the tombstone, which are elegant and solemn. There are more than 50 poems and couplets inscribed by national leaders and celebrities from all walks of life at the low walls, railings and pavilions of the Olympic Garden.
