What is the significance of food to travel?

In my travels, food is the soul of travel. No matter how many beautiful places I see and how many people I meet during my travels, I will eventually forget them. But people are very sensitive to food. You will suddenly think of a taste when you eat by chance, because this food reminds you of that city and the people there. Therefore, to retain a man, you must retain his stomach; the same is true for a city, to retain a customer, you must also retain his stomach.

Nowadays, technology is advanced and transportation is convenient. You can eat all kinds of food in a city, but many foods can only taste like they are made locally. For example, there is a delicacy in our hometown called Wan Tuan, which many local people like to eat. Many people miss this kind of food very much after arriving in Beijing, but there is really no such food in Beijing. They bring the basic ingredients to Beijing to make it themselves, but they don't have that feeling when they make it. Experienced gourmets say that the water quality in Beijing cannot match the feeling we have there. But people from my hometown always miss the feeling of bowls and balls in Beijing.

I went to Guilin during my trip and ate six meals of Guilin rice noodles in three days. After returning to the city where I work, I miss this feeling very much. Every time I see Guilin rice noodles on the roadside, I always go in and try it. Every time after eating, I always say that it doesn’t feel like Guilin, but the next time I see a shop like this, I will still go in and try it out to see when I can find the real feeling of Guilin rice noodles. When I eat Guilin rice noodles, I think of those things in Guilin.
