Political circles
Yang Shangkun: Former President of the People's Republic of China and First Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission. In 1926, he entered the Department of Sociology of Shanghai University to study.
Bo Gu: One of the early leaders of the Communist Party of China, he entered the Department of Sociology of Shanghai University in 1925.
Wang Jiaxiang: One of the early leaders of the Communist Party of China. In 1925, he entered the Middle School Attached to Shanghai University to study and served as the president of the student union.
Xu Jishen: Revolutionary martyr, one of the outstanding early senior commanders of the Chinese Red Army, one of the 36 military strategists of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and one of the heroic models who made outstanding contributions to the founding of New China.
He Bingyi: Revolutionary martyr and main activist during the May 30th Period. He entered the Department of Sociology of Shanghai University in 1924 and actively participated in the revolutionary activities led by the Communist Party of China. In December of the same year, he was elected as an executive member of the Shanghai University Student Union. Soon, he served as secretary of the Shanghai Students Federation and organizational director of the Shanghai Prefectural Committee of the Communist Youth League. At the end of the same year, he assisted Liu Hua in launching the Shanghai workers' movement. Joined the Communist Party of China in 1925. On May 30 of the same year, he participated in the "May 30th" demonstration and was suppressed by imperialist patrols. He was shot and died. He was 23 years old.
Li Shuoxun: Revolutionary martyr, one of the leaders of the Nanchang Uprising, and one of the 100 heroic models who made outstanding contributions to the founding of New China.
Zhang Zhizhong: a famous anti-Japanese general and patriot who studied in the Department of Sociology of Shanghai University.
Chen Geng: One of the 36 military strategists of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the founding general of New China, and the first dean of the Military Engineering College of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. He once studied at Shanghai University as an auditor.
Zhang Qinqiu: The only female general of the Red Army and one of the earliest female members of the Communist Party of China. In 1924, she was admitted to the Department of Sociology of Shanghai University.
Liang Piyun: Member of the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth CPPCC National Committee, a famous educator and calligrapher. He graduated from the Department of Chinese Literature of Shanghai University in 1927.
Xu Kuangdi: successively served as director and executive vice president of the Metallurgical Engineering Department of Shanghai University of Technology, director of the Shanghai Bureau of Higher Education, director of the Shanghai Municipal Planning Commission, deputy secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and mayor, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Chinese Academy of Engineering Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President. He is currently the honorary president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shanghai University, lifelong professor, and doctoral supervisor.
Fei Xiaotong: Famous sociologist, anthropologist, ethnologist and social activist, outstanding leader of the China Democratic League, Vice Chairman of the Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Seventh and Eighth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress and former director of the Shanghai Social Development Research Center of Shanghai University.
Xia Zhengnong: Former member of the Central Advisory Committee of the Communist Party of China, former Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, and consultant of Shanghai University.
Wang Liping: Former Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Chairman of the CPPCC Committee, and alumnus of the Computer Engineering Department of Shanghai University of Technology.
Wang Linhe: Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions, deputy chief engineer of the Municipal Economic Commission, vice president of the Municipal Invention Association, national model worker, member of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and representative of the 4th National People’s Congress. Graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Shanghai University of Science and Technology in 1965.
Zhou Muyao: former deputy mayor of Shanghai, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, and deputy secretary of the Party Leadership Group. He graduated from the Department of Physics and Chemistry of Shanghai University of Science and Technology in 1965, majoring in nuclear physics.
Yin Hong: Member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. He graduated from the Metallurgical Engineering Department of Shanghai University of Technology in 1985.
Xue Chao: Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, graduated from the Department of Management Engineering of Shanghai University in 1997.
Zhong Yanqun: Chairman and Party Secretary of the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions. Graduated from the Department of Management Engineering of Shanghai University in 1997.
Jing Ying: Formerly deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai Foreign Economic and Trade Commission, deputy district chief of Nanhui District, and deputy district chief of Putuo District; currently deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Bureau, graduated from Shanghai International Studies University Branch in 1983 ( Now at the School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai University).

Chen Fansheng: Industrial microbiologist, the founder and pioneer of modern industrial microbiology in China. Founded the Department of Bioengineering at Shanghai University of Science and Technology and served as department director.
Zou Yuanyuan: Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, representative of the Third National People's Congress, member of the Fifth and Sixth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In 1958, he founded the Department of Metallurgy of Shanghai University of Science and Technology and served concurrently as a member of the school committee, department director and professor.
Yan Dongsheng: The founder of the field of inorganic materials research in China, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Third World Academy of Sciences, and the International Academy of Ceramics. Former Vice President of the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vice President and Honorary President of Shanghai University of Science and Technology, and now Honorary President of Shanghai University.
Huang Hongjia: An internationally renowned microwave and optical fiber expert, an important founder of my country's microwave optical fiber field, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Chen Yifei: famous oil painter, cultural industrialist, director. Graduated from Shanghai Art College (now Shanghai University Academy of Fine Arts) in 1965.
Xie Jin: Famous director, vice chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the first dean of the School of Film and Television Arts and Technology of Shanghai University.
Qiu Ruimin: Chinese painter, director of the Chinese Artists Association.
Huo Zun: A singer signed by Shanghai Tianyun Culture and one of the top three in the Asian division of Dragon TV reality show "Sound of Asia". Champion of the first season of the reality show "Chinese Good Songs" on CCTV Variety Channel.
Teng Junjie: National first-level director, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Radio and Television Station and Shanghai Culture, Radio, Film and Television Group Co., Ltd. In 1999, he entered the graduate class of the School of Film and Television of Shanghai University.
