What documents do Americans need to go to Hong Kong?

American citizens who have traveled to Hong Kong for less than 90 days are exempt from visas. American citizens who want to travel to the mainland should apply for a visa. You should apply for a valid visa to enter China twice. Entering the mainland from the United States counts as an entry, and returning to the mainland from Hong Kong counts as an entry. If you have obtained a valid entry visa, you can also apply to the Hong Kong Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for another visa to the Mainland.
