Taiwan Treasure Island is a place that many people yearn for. The editor also likes Taiwan very much because there have been good Taiwanese idol dramas since I was a child, and many good and favorite singers are also from here, so What are the routes and strategies for going to Taiwan from Beijing? Let’s take a look with the editor below.
Traveling around Taiwan is something I have wanted to do for a long time. But in addition to not having time to apply for the Taiwan Pass and Taiwan Entry Permit, more importantly, I have no money to support long-distance travel, so I have been procrastinating.
Until this year, the money and time were just right, and I finally made up my mind to start a free trip around the island.
Some people say that for things like dreams, just think about them when you dream. But if you don’t take the first step, you’ll never know that your dreams can come true. Travel routes and strategies from Beijing to Taiwan:
Time: December 15th - December 24th, 2017 (10 days and 9 nights)
Route: Beijing - Taipei - —Ruifang (Pingxi Line) — Hualien — Kenting — Kaohsiung — Taipei — Beijing
Expenses: Excluding pure shopping (cosmetics, souvenirs), *** spend 7,400 yuan.

Transportation: Use Easy Card to take the MRT, Mafengwo to book Taiwan Railway tickets and high-speed rail tickets. Taiwan's MRT, Taiwan Railway, and high-speed rail do not require security checks. You can enter directly with your bags. It is not easy to buy Taiwan Railway tickets for the first line from Taipei to Hualien. It is best to book tickets in advance on Mafengwo.com and tell the merchant your Taiwan Entry Permit number, and you can book tickets directly.
Accommodation: Taipei Nanyang Street No. 1 Hotel (2 days), Hualien Zishe Xiaozhu (2 days), Kenting Haiqingtian (2 days), Kaohsiung Shan_’s Cabin (1 day), Taipei Lion City Business Hotel (2 days), please read the review below.
Documents: Taiwan Pass and Taiwan Entry Permit (please direct Baidu).
The Taiwan Pass must be applied for at the entry-exit hall of your city, because each city may have different requirements. In Beijing, you need to make an appointment in advance and bring your ID card and printed information sheet to apply. You can apply at the hall. Take photos and let the staff take photos for you, which will be more in line with the requirements.
If it is your first time to apply for a Taiwan Pass, it is a card. This allows you to swipe your card to exit the customs on your own without queuing. However, for the first time, you need to go through the manual channel to enter your fingerprints. When you return to Beijing, you can directly swipe your card to enter the customs.
The Taiwan Entry Permit is reviewed and approved by the Taiwan Immigration Department. It can only be collected, reviewed, and charged for application through an officially designated mainland travel agency with qualifications to travel to Taiwan. The Taiwan Entry Permit will be collected by the mainland travel agency. After the application is submitted and reviewed, it will be forwarded to a travel agency in Taiwan, which will apply and pay fees, buy insurance and other procedures directly to the Taiwan Immigration Department online. So you can just find a travel agency that can handle it on Taobao, Mafengwo, etc. I found China Youth Travel Service on Mafengwo. They will send the information they need to provide to your email, and you can just prepare accordingly. Normally there will be a reply within a week.
You need to print the Taiwan Entry Permit yourself. It must be laser typed. The paper can be ordinary A4 paper, which can be folded and placed in a bag. But be careful not to fold or smear the QR code at the top.
Be sure to apply at least one month in advance, because you may fail the review and need to supplement information. Air tickets can be purchased before the Taiwan Entry Permit.
APP:
Baidu Map. Many people told me to download Google Maps for navigation, but Baidu Maps is not easy to use in Taiwan. I used Baidu Maps, which was very easy to use, but Google Maps made me unable to find my way.
Alipay. You must have Alipay, there are discounts in many places! Dad Ma is awesome!
Mafengwo. View guides, travel notes, ticket bookings, and more. Many people asked me to download the Taiwan High Speed ??Rail and Taiwan Railway ticket booking software, but I didn't use it, so I just booked the tickets for me directly from the merchants I found on Mafengwo. Take the received email information and pick up the ticket directly at the manual window of the train station.
QQ mailbox. Accepts emails for many attraction tickets, high-speed rail tickets, and Taiwan Railway tickets. If you find a merchant to book for you online, they will directly send the ticket collection information to your mailbox. Of course, you can also follow QQ mailbox reminders on WeChat, and the emails can be opened directly in WeChat.
Others:
Umbrellas. Going to Taipei to see the rain in winter is not just in songs.
Sealed copy. There are many tourist attractions in Taiwan that provide stamps. Artistic young people can prepare a blank notebook and they will definitely come home with a full load. If you don’t want to give the ticket to the staff, you can stamp it and take it away yourself.
Power bank. Get one you can take on a plane.
Medicine. If your spleen and stomach function is weak, or you are prone to acclimatization, it is best to bring this kind of medicine; if you get motion sickness, it is best to bring motion sickness medicine.
Coin bag. There are many places in Taiwan where you need to use cash, such as night markets, underground shopping streets, etc., so finally prepare a coin bag to hold coins.
Storage bag.
I barely washed my clothes and only washed my socks, which were hung on the balcony for a whole day in the strong wind in Hualien and they were still not dry. If you don’t want to go to the laundry room to dry your clothes, but you naturally want to dry them, time may not allow it, so it is better to bring a few storage bags to hold unwashed or undried small items.
