At present, our country has formed a railway network framework with Beijing as the center and each province with the provincial capital as the center. It connects many railway hubs of different sizes and forms the main trunk lines of my country's railway network framework:

The route runs through six provinces and cities, crosses five major river basins, passes through the North China Plain, the Two Lakes Plains, the Jiangnan hills, passes through the Nanling Mountains, and connects to the Pearl River Delta. The route has dense populations, rich products, developed economy, dense towns, and very busy transportation. The goods transported to the south mainly include coal, steel, timber and export materials, while the goods transported to the north mainly include rice, non-ferrous metals and imported materials.

The total length of the Chengdu-Kunming Railway bridges and tunnels accounts for 40% of the total length of the line. The arduous project is rarely seen in the history of world railway construction. The line connects with the Longhai Line in Baoji and the Chengdu-Chongqing Line in Chengdu. Along the line are multi-ethnic areas with rich specialties in my country, rich in mineral resources and forest resources. The completion of the railway has promoted the economic construction of the southwest region and strengthened ethnic unity. It is also an important passage connecting the northwest region.
