Do I need a visa to go to Jeju Island?

It is visa-free. It is actually a visa on arrival and you can stay for 30 days.

1. Jeju Special Self-Government Government’s visa-free policy: In 2002, the South Korean government officially designated Jeju Island as a visa-free and tariff-free international free city, provided that there are more than 5 people in a group. As of February 2008, the Korean government has further relaxed the above policies, and Chinese citizen families and individuals can enjoy visa-free (visa on arrival).

No matter which city in China you depart from to Jeju Island, whether you are a group or an individual, you only need to show your valid passport and destination air ticket or boarding pass to the Jeju border police. You do not need to go through any visa procedures. You can successfully clear customs and enter the country, and you can stay in Jeju Island for 30 days.

3. Procedures for visa-free travel to Jeju:

1. Hold a valid passport: Chinese citizens who hold a valid mainland Chinese passport and have not been refused a visa by the Korean Embassy , are eligible to enter Jeju Island, South Korea, visa-free for 30 days.

2. Purchase a direct flight ticket to Jeju Island: You can only enjoy the visa-free policy if you take a direct flight to Jeju Island. Transfers are not allowed. To be on the safe side, it is best to have a direct round-trip air ticket when entering the country.
