Xiandai Mountain in the Taihang Grand Canyon in Linzhou is a small but exquisite scenic spot. Don’t miss it when you pass by.

In Linzhou Taihang Grand Canyon, there is a relatively niche tourist attraction called Xiantai Mountain. Tourists who have been to the Taihang Grand Canyon are generally familiar with Xiantai Mountain, because Xiantai Mountain is on the way to the Grand Canyon Scenic Area and can be said to be the only way to go. But when it comes to people who have actually climbed Mount Sendai, although it cannot be said to be very few, I am afraid there are at least quite a few people!

From Linzhou City, take the Linshi Highway, one of the most beautiful rural roads in China, through the Taihang Tunnel, and enter Shibanyan Town, a famous tourist town in China, where you will arrive at the Taihang Grand Canyon. Go down the road and turn a sharp 180-degree bend. The entrance to the Xiantai Mountain Scenic Area is at the mountain col not far away.

I have come and gone from the gate of Xiantai Mountain countless times, but I have never been there due to being in a hurry and other reasons. I always keep thinking that I must climb Mount Sendai one day. On the way back to An from Shibanyan this morning, this wish finally came true.

The Xiantai Mountain Scenic Area is not large in scope. It can be said to be a small but beautiful exquisite scenic spot. Being in the hinterland of the Taihang Grand Canyon, although there is a lack of water in the scenic area, it can give people a sense of beauty like a Jiangnan garden.

From the guide map of Xiantai Mountain, we can see that the scenic spot mainly includes: Xiantai Mountain Archway, Tongtian Gorge, Dengtian Gorge, Quepei Rock, Jiangjun Pavilion, Mushroom Peak, Tengyuntai, Xiantao Peak, and Oracle Hundreds Attractions such as Jia Xing, Pearl Waterfall, Qingliang Palace, Shiling Cave, Woying Rock, Forsythia Slope, Chinese Zodiac, Fairy Mirror and Lover's Stone.

Pass through the stone archway at the ticket gate of Xiantai Mountain, go up the steps, turn right in the direction indicated by the sign, and then enter the hiking trail. The artificially paved red granite stone road is hidden among the dense trees. The scorching sunlight passes through the layers of leaves and falls on the ground, forming spots of light and shadow, losing its due heat. When people walk through such mountain and forest trails, they will naturally feel happy physically and mentally.

Not far along the mountain road, at the end of the steep mountain road steps, a stone gate stands impressively, like a city gate guarding the main road into the mountain. The three large stone characters "Tongtianmen" on the door head are not very eye-catching, but they can still be seen clearly. "It is better to climb Xiantai Mountain from afar, and to look for guests in the clouds from afar." I don't know who inscribed this couplet, which can be regarded as an expression of Xiantai Mountain's hope to welcome mountaineers.

After passing through Tongtianmen, there is a small viewing and resting platform. After the platform, follow the red stone steps built on Hehongshan Rock and go up the valley.

On the rock at the entrance are four large red characters in block letters that read "替石问古", which are quite satisfactory. The writers and carvers all have extraordinary skills! Although I didn't recognize the first traditional Chinese character, I intuitively felt that it should be the character "Ping". When I came back, I looked it up and found that it was indeed the case.

"Asking about ancient times based on stones" is so artistic!

Climb the narrow and steep steps across Tongtian Gorge and reach the second floor of the new road, where the mountain road becomes smoother. The cliff on the left is the "Sparrow Peck Cliff". I guess the shape of the cliff looks like it has been pecked by birds! It does look different.

Going along the road, to the end of the ridge, there is a hexagonal pavilion with "General Pavilion" written on it. It turns out that the name of the village at the foot of the mountain is "General Bei", but I don't know which general it refers to? This "General's Pavilion" should have some connection with the general at the foot of the mountain carrying the general in the village, right?

Standing at Jiangjun Pavilion, you can have a panoramic view of the Grand Canyon at the foot of the mountain. Today, the sky is clear and the view is excellent. All we can see are mountains and rivers in the distance, full of greenery. It’s like a picture of the sky opening up. It’s really a natural beauty!

Continuing upward along the steps built from the ridge, there is a mountain rock on one side of the bend in front, cascading out in rows. Looking towards the Grand Canyon, it really looks like "Turtle exploring the sea" ".

Nature is really amazing! Right in the middle of the ridge, a mountain rock with a large upper part and a small lower part stands majestically, hanging alone in the air. This is the famous "Mushroom Peak" of Sendai Mountain.

Pass through the iron plank road under Mushroom Peak, get off the plank road, and then go up the plank road. In front of you is the "Tengyuntai". Originally right on the top of the mountain ridge, there was a stone platform, which was made of layers of flakes, as if they were piled up, standing on the top of the mountain. How spectacular!

Come down from Tengyuntai, walk across a small stone bridge, and continue forward. There is a crossroads. The one marked above is Forsythia Slope. To the left, it says No. 1 in Northern Henan. There is a road to the right from Daguanyin and down the mountain, but there is no sign.

We followed the guidance of the road down the mountain, turned left and went all the way down the mountain.

Near the bottom, there is a pool under a waterfall. There is a huge stone standing beside the pool. The stone and water reflect each other, and the words "Fairy Mirror" are written on it. Unfortunately, the words are not beautiful enough. Maybe because of this, the words are written very small. It was also written on one corner.

From the time we started going up the mountain to the time we came out of the scenic spot, it only took us an hour. When we came out, we looked at the guide map at the door and realized that we had only walked about half of the journey. The most regrettable thing is that I didn’t go to Xiantao Peak, but that’s fine, I’ll remember it for the next time I go there.

It’s quite easy to walk around Xiantao Peak. Although there is an elevation, the elevation is not large, and you basically don’t feel tired while climbing.
