The Department of Tourism Management was established in 2002, with doctoral and master's programs in tourism management. The doctoral program in tourism management is the first doctoral program in tourism management in Shanghai to be awarded a doctorate in business administration in strict accordance with the discipline classification of the Ministry of Education.

The research direction of the Master of Tourism Management is: tourism enterprise management and exhibition management. The research directions of doctoral students majoring in tourism management are: research on tourism management theory and practice, research on international tourism destinations and tourism enterprise groups.

The main research features are: in-depth study of the development law of China's tourism industry and tourist destinations, the international cooperation and competition law of China's tourism enterprises, and the management mode of international tourism enterprises, including the study of tourist hotels and exhibitions.

Teachers of Tourism Management Department have presided over and undertaken the research projects of National Philosophy and Social Science Fund, China-EU Higher Education Cooperation Research Project of Ministry of Education, Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Fund, etc. , and published a number of professional papers, monographs and professional textbooks, and won the Excellent Textbook Award of the Ministry of Education and the Excellent Works Award of Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences.
