Simagou Village

It became a village in the Qing Dynasty. It was originally called Lion Rock, so named because there are huge rocks like lions in the area. Perhaps because there are four mountains running north and south, like four galloping horses, it was renamed Simagou, and later renamed Simagou Village. Located in the middle of Fangshan District, it borders Beixia Temple to the east, Xiayunling Township to the west, Huangyuan Temple to the south, and Nanjiao Township to the north. It governs two natural villages, Simagou and Liangshuiquan. There are 50 households with 160 people. The main surnames are Cui, Ma, Zhao and Wang, all of whom are Han nationality. The village party branch was established in 1949. Fu Haiquan, Yang Jifu, Wang Dekun, Zhao Wen'an, Zhao Wenyou, Cui Zhiyong, Yang Wanmin, Wang Zhangang, Zhou Quanyuan, Wang Zhanxiong and Zheng Dizhong served as village party branch secretaries. A village committee was established in 1983. Zhao Wen'an, Cui Zhiyong, Ma Shuxian, Liu Dianwen, Zheng Dizhong, etc. served as village committee directors, and Zhao Wenyou, Cui Zhiqiang, Wang Zhangang, Liu Dianwen, Zheng Dizhong, etc. served as presidents of the economic cooperative. It produces corn, millet, wheat, persimmons, walnuts, red fruits, pepper and other fruits. In 1988, the total grain output was 20,000 kilograms. The current branch secretary Zheng Dizhong said that in 2008, the village's rural economic operating income was 2.8 million yuan, and the per capita net income was 4,500 yuan. The main mineral resource is marble. There is a primary school, which suffered serious losses due to floods in 1939 and 1988. Severe drought in 1963 and hail in 1987 both reduced grain production.

Near Simagou Village there are tourist attractions such as Shihuadong Scenic Area, Zhoukoudian Peking Man Site, Fangshan Yunju Temple Shijing Mountain, Qidu Huaguo Mountain, Fangshan Shidu, Fangshan Mopan Persimmon, Beijing Bu Flowers, Zhangfang Mopan persimmon, Jinbeilian red beans, sweet sauce black vegetables and other specialties.
