If Guangzhou is very beautiful in the past two thousand years, why are 70% of it located in Guangzhou Yundao?

Guangzhou has deliberately set the starting point of the newly built cloud road at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in the city center: the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is the old city center of Guangzhou. Starting from here, within a half-hour walk, there are The Museum of the King of Nanyue in the Western Han Dynasty, the Museum of the Nanyue Palace, Guangxiao Temple, Liurong Temple, the Ancient Buddha Temple, Huaisheng Mosque, Stone Chamber Church, City God Temple, Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, Zhongshan Road Qilou Street and the origin of the city, from the Western Han Dynasty to the Republic of China, from religion to folk customs, It is the cultural context of Guangzhou for two thousand years.

Let us start from the city center of Guangzhou and stroll toward poetry and distance.

The actual starting point of the Cloud Road is at the south gate of Yuexiu Mountain Park, north of the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, commonly known as the Hundred Step Ladder. Starting from the Baibu Ladder, you can climb to the top of Yuexiu Mountain. The Baibu Ladder has 498 steps and is the most "difficult" place in the entire Yundao journey. The subsequent cloud roads generally go up and down at this altitude level, and there is no need to climb more steps.

Yuexiu Mountain is adjacent to Baiyun Mountain in the north and is the remnant of Baiyun Mountain. Baiyun Mountain is the major backer of Guangzhou City. Standing on the top of Yuexiu Mountain and looking south, you can see the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, the origin of the city and the Pearl River at the foot of the mountain, and further away is the South China Sea, forming an impressive central axis of the city from north to south, from mountains to water. A city has mountains, lakes, rivers and seas. This kind of natural pattern is very rare even if you look at the world, and it is very valuable. For more than two thousand years, it has nurtured the soil and water of Guangzhou and its people.

The red and green stone chairs and gas lamp-shaped street lamps from the Republic of China period are preserved on the 100-step staircase, as well as the Sun Yat-sen monument and Sun Yat-sen reading room, which show the deep connection between this city and Dr. Sun Yat-sen.

Around the top of Yuexiu Mountain, you can see the Ming Dynasty city wall and the Zhenhai Tower built in the Ming Dynasty. Zhenhai Tower is the landmark of old Guangzhou. In ancient times, the Pearl River was so wide that it extended to a place not far from the foot of Yuexiu Mountain. People in Guangzhou liked to call the river the sea, and built this five-story "sea" tower on the top of the mountain to ensure peace. The modern Pearl River channel has been greatly reduced.

Yundao has two road conditions: one is an elevated trail, used to connect scenic spots, which is the origin of the name Yundao; the other is to directly borrow the original trail when passing through a park or scenic area. Some scenery and roads. Walking on the cloud path on Yuexiu Mountain, the birds are singing and the trees are shady along the way, which is quite poetic.

Yundao claims to connect eight scenic spots in Guangzhou. The road signs along the way are very clear, so there is no need to be afraid of going off the road. But people travel in scenery, and if they have a favorite scenery, they are willing to take some side roads.

As you walk from the south gate of Yuexiu Mountain to the north gate of Huanshi Road, your eyes suddenly open up. In a real sense, this is the beginning of the overhead cloud path. A silver-gray aerial steel structure walkway winding toward the northeast unfolds before your eyes. This trail crosses the busy Ring Road to Huaguo Mountain. Huaguo Mountain is lower than Yuexiu Mountain, and the cloud road passes overhead throughout Huaguo Mountain, completely ignoring the feeling of Huaguo Mountain as a mountain.

In this section of the cloud road in Huaguo Mountain, you can enjoy the view of the two towers of Guangdong TV Station and Guangzhou TV Station. The cloud road is about ten to twenty meters above the ground. The hillside below is covered with green turf, and there are also clusters of azaleas in full bloom. Once here, people have completely integrated into nature, completely forgetting the busy city they are in.

Some people complained that the design of the overhead cloud tunnel was empty, allowing it to be exposed to direct sunlight, wind and rain. In fact, these elevated road sections usually do not exceed one kilometer, and the empty road sections can make it easier for Yundao and tourists to integrate into nature. Urban walking itself is an outdoor activity. I think it is healthier to enjoy some sunshine. No, the sculpture park is coming soon.

The sculpture park is located to the north of Huaguo Mountain, with towering ancient trees. The cloud road extends here and seamlessly connects to the park's tourist passage. Along the sculpture park, there are many sculptures by domestic artists, adding a lot of artistic flavor to the cloud road.

Among these statues, there are group sculptures commemorating the doctors and nurses who sacrificed their lives during the fight against SARS in Guangzhou more than ten years ago. It is particularly meaningful to see these statues again at this time.

The length of the cloud road is 7.1 kilometers, and it is about half the distance to the sculpture park. Coming out of the sculpture park, the overhead cloud path continues to the northeast and reaches Luhu Lake. On the overhead cloud road, there are high-pressure water mist nozzles at regular intervals to cool visitors down in hot weather, which is very considerate.

Luhu Lake is the southern foothills of Baiyun Mountain and is in the same line as Baiyun Mountain. There is a golf course here, with only a few people playing golf on the huge green lawn. It seems particularly luxurious in a crowded big city and has become a scenery on the cloud road.

The end point of the overhead cloud road is the Jufangyuan Lawn in Luhu, a place that makes people feel relaxed and happy. Many citizens fly kites here, and many children blow bubbles on the grass. The Xinghai Garden built in memory of the musician Xian Xinghai is also here.

There is a large lake outside the gate of Jufang Garden, which is Luhu. The lake is lined with metasequoia trees. It is said that a long time ago, a sacred deer came here from Baiyun Mountain and chirped a few times, so people called this lake Lu (Deer) Lake - this is how the mythical stories are told to friends.

The wooden plank road beside Luhu Lake is an extension of Yundao. From here you can go all the way to the south gate of Baiyun Mountain. After passing the mountain scenery along the way, walking by the lake is another relaxing feeling.

The metasequoia and masson pine trees beside the lake are very dense, the lawn is evergreen all year round, the flowers are in bloom, and it is very cool.

Walking on the wooden boardwalk by the lake, some people sang and some read poetry. To the east of the lake is Baiyunxianguan, an ancient Taoist temple that is now a great place for tea. Guangzhou Garden is under construction to the northeast of Luhu Lake. It is said that the planned Guangzhou Garden covers an area of ??54 hectares and is a very huge urban garden. Guangzhou citizens are blessed.

After passing the Guangyuan Road Overpass, you will find Yuntai Garden at the foot of Baiyun Mountain, which is the official end point of Yundao. I think it is too hasty to set the foot of Baiyun Mountain as the end point of the cloud road. Baiyun Mountain itself is a big treasure. Friends who have the energy to spare can continue climbing from the south gate of Baiyun Mountain, pass through Nengren Temple to the first peak of Tiannan, and even climb to the highest peak of Baiyun Mountain, Moxing Ridge.

I was a bit cunning and chose to take the Baiyun Cableway to climb the mountain and see the Guangzhou city skyline from the Tiannan First Peak. The city has left us. After a long journey, standing on the top of a mountain with a panoramic view of the mountains is a refreshing feeling. Landscapes are sentimental, this is the poetry and distance of Guangzhou.
