Laishan. Laishan Mountain in Qijia Town has a radius of 5 kilometers and the main peak is 619 meters above sea level. The mountain is majestic and has 18 large valleys and 72 mountain streams. The middle and upper part of the mountain covers an area of ??about 520 hectares and is mostly made of granite. There are scattered flints all over the bottom of the mountain slopes. In history, Laishan was as famous as Mount Tai, Mount Huashan and other famous mountains. "Historical Records: The Benji of Xiaowu" records: There are eight famous mountains in the world, one of which is Laishan. "Hanshu Geography" states: Laishan Mountain is also known as Laiyin Mountain. The "Huang County Chronicle" published by Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty stated that there are four sceneries in Laishan Mountain. According to historical records, Qin Shihuang visited Laishan twice to offer sacrifices during his eastern tour. Emperor Wu and Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty also paid homage to Laishan. "Historical Records·Fengchan Book" has a precise record: "There are eight gods in Qi, the Lord of the Moon on the sixth day, and the temple is on Laishan."
It is said that after Qin Shihuang unified the six countries, he came to Laishan Mountain on his eastward tour. Seeing the majestic mountain, it pierced the blue sky. On a whim, he waved his magic whip to drive it to the North Sea. But after three consecutive blows, Laishan remained motionless. Qin Shihuang was so furious that he used all his strength to hit 18 hard whips and 72 light whips. Laishan was immediately beaten 18 times and 72 times, but the entire mountain still stood tall. Qin Shihuang was exhausted, sat down on the ground with his whip folded, looked up to the sky and sighed: "Lazy Mountain! Lazy Mountain!" From then on, the mountain was called "Lazy Mountain", and over time it was called "Laishan". More than 2,000 years have passed, but 18 rivers and 72 rivers still exist. Lai Mountain has beautiful mountains and green trees. Officials and literati from past dynasties have come here in droves to recall the past and present, write poems and chant, leaving behind many excellent works.
There is an ancient temple on both sides of the original Lai Mountain. To the west is the "Yanguang Yuezhu Zhenjun Temple" and to the east is the "Zhending Temple". Zhending Temple, also known as Laishan Temple, is located at the northeastern foothills of Laishan Mountain, between the South and North Solitary Mountains, and 1 km west of Yuanxia Village. "Dengzhou Prefecture Chronicles" of the Qing Dynasty records: According to legend, when Emperor Taizong Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty came here during his eastern expedition, two black tigers blocked the road and no horses dared to pass. Zen Master Black Tiger scolded them and the tigers fled. When asked about the Eastern Expedition, the Zen Master said: Decisive victory. The result is triumphant. So the temple was named "Zhending Temple". According to this theory, the temple was built in the early Tang Dynasty.
Zhending Temple faces south and is built against the mountain. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, there were also buildings such as the Great Buddha Hall, the middle hall, the two corridors, the monk's room, the mountain gate, the ancient pagoda, and the theater, with the inscription "Zhending Zen Temple" on the door. The palace is majestic, large in scale and majestic. There is a theater in front of the mountain gate. Every temple fair on the 18th day of the fourth lunar month is crowded with tourists. There are five ancient pagodas in the southeast of the temple. They are simple in shape, exquisite and clever, with dragon and phoenix reliefs, circling and flying. They were demolished in 1956.
There was originally a locust tree on the east side of the quiet courtyard behind the temple, and now there is a rosewood tree on the west side. It is old and majestic. Every year in the Yangchun season, the peonies in the temples compete with each other, the azaleas on the mountain are as bright as fire, and the fragrance of lilacs is clustered on the mountain. On the mountain and down the mountain, the flowers are red and the leaves are green, with contrasting shades, and full of vitality.
The natural scenery around Laishan Temple (Zhending Temple) is so beautiful that it can be seen in the "Eight Scenic Spots of Laishan" recorded in chronicles, and traces of most of them can be found to this day.
"The sun rises in the ancient cave". After the Laishan courtyard, it is also known as the "Black Tiger Cave". The huge rocks and rocks in the cave make it warm in winter and cool in summer. "Pour evergreen pine". The mountain behind Tiger Cave stands on a cliff. There used to be an ancient pine tree with a drooping trunk and a flat crown. It was a scenic spot in the past, but it was later destroyed by war. On a clear day in spring and autumn, standing in the south of Guicheng and overlooking the mountain behind the Laishan courtyard, you can still see the phantom that is more than ten feet tall and shaped like a mountain pine, commonly known as the "Laishan tree shadow", which is enough to make up for the destruction of the "inverted evergreen pine". "The square bridge presses the moon". In front of the gate of the courtyard, there is an ancient bridge from the Tang Dynasty, hidden in the misty stream. The arch bridge is made of stone and the bridge body is square. It looks like two bridges merged together, so it is called the square bridge. Looking at the moon near the bridge, the moon seems to be right next to the bridge. "Qingquan Soseki". Crossing the bridge and heading south, a spring gushes out from the cracks in the rocks and gurgls down the cliff. "Dengzhou Prefecture Chronicles" of the Qing Dynasty records: "There is a spring in front of the Black Tiger Cave, which comes out of a stone crevice, and is called Black Tiger Spring." Sitting on the stone spring is very elegant and interesting. "Lotus Pond Yuxiu". The water from the Black Tiger Spring flows down the rock to the east and collects into a pool. In the old days, lotus flowers were planted all over the pool. In summer, the delicate flowers bloomed and exhaled their fragrance, which was a natural fit with the Laishan Ancient Temple. "Late Green Pine Mountain". Since ancient times, Laishan has been famous for its tall and straight pines and cypresses that block out the sky and the sun. Laishan courtyard is surrounded by green pines and green curtains. "Pour water out of the well." At the west end of the square bridge, there is a stone well on the south side of the stream. The wellhead is carved from three pieces of white flower stone (two are left today). In the old days, it was known as "pour water from the well" because the water could not be pumped out. It was a place where monks obtained water. This is actually a siphon phenomenon. Part of the water from the mountains in the west flows down the mountain stream, and part overflows from the well through the underground water line. "Three Islands and Ten Continents". Going up the river, not far to the west, you can enjoy the "Three Islands and Ten Continents". Standing under the stone carvings and looking far into the distance, the vast expanse of green fields at the foot of the mountain are like the vast sea of ??mist, the farming fields are like dots of white sails, and the scattered villages in the mist are like fairy islands in the sea. Three Islands and Ten Continents generally refers to fairyland. The three islands are Penglai, Fangzhang and Yingzhou, the legendary fairy mountains on the sea; the ten continents refer to the famous mountains and scenic spots where Taoists say the gods in the sea live.
Laishan is a high mountain with deep ravines and many scenic spots. In addition to the eight sceneries around Laishan Courtyard, there are also Fairy Ruts, Paoma Ridge, Lanmazhuang, Yinma Bay (Longwan), Shiping, Maotoushan, Huangsha Ridge, Black Bear Rock, etc., each scenic spot has a story. It is said that when Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty paid homage to this mountain and climbed to the main peak, he accidentally fell on the cliff. People called this cliff "Gunlong Cliff". After he reached the top of the mountain, he was so intoxicated by the beautiful scenery of Laishan that he stopped moving forward and forgot to return. In modern times, Laishan Yuan gradually deteriorated and was demolished in 1941. Since then, Laishan has been neglected, but after all, it is a famous mountain in ancient times. The exotic flowers and plants on the mountain, the forests, springs, caves and gullies are still beautiful and bright, and the charm still exists.
