Comparison of Work and Life between China and America after Studying Abroad

There are more and more people studying abroad now, so what should international students do after graduation? Stay abroad, the years are quiet, but many people will feel that life lacks excitement; After returning to China, there is more room for development, but international students also face various embarrassment? Let's take a look at the experience of two young people making different choices after graduation in this article.

There are two examples, that is, the daughter who joined an American company and the nephew who returned to Australia to study and work, which are mainly introduced from two aspects: working hours and life. The income and expenditure figures are not necessarily accurate, but they basically reflect the working and living conditions of international students who joined China and the United States after graduation.

My daughter was born in the same year as Qiu Sheng's nephew and went abroad to study four years ago. The difference is that my daughter went to America and my nephew studied in Australia and graduated from the University of Sydney.

There is a difference of two or three months between the two children before and after graduation. After graduation, my daughter has the opportunity to choose the United States, and my nephew chooses to return to China when he has the conditions to stay in Australia (IELTS 8 for work visa). After graduation, my daughter gave herself a vacation, went to the United States, and went to work in the company when she came back. My nephew joined the tide of looking for a job as soon as he returned to China at the end of last year.

At first, we were all a little worried. Hit dad? It's impossible. My nephew who studied in Australia for several years came back to face the domestic exams and? Relationship? Can you adapt? Can you spell it at home? 2 1 1? 、? 985? Graduated from college? Practice has proved that worry is unnecessary. My nephew studied abroad for four years. He not only studied hard, but also had a lot of practice outside his studies. Australian law stipulates that international students can work in other schools. My nephew studied abroad for four years and did seven or eight jobs. After many internships and working days, he has made great gains and improvements in integrating theory with practice and interpersonal communication. So in many companies' written interviews, it's a hit? I applied for six companies, namely, New Oriental, Postal Savings Bank and China Mobile, and each company issued employment notices.

After comparative analysis, he chose a company (located in a second-tier city), one of the four major accounting firms. Although he knew that the big four accounting firms had higher work intensity, more overtime and only moderate income, he signed an agreement with this company.

American life VS China life.

The two children have experienced a lot from studying abroad to finding a job after graduation. Now that they are all working, their families are naturally happy at first. But when my nephew worked, we were not happy, because the working hours were too long and the cost of living was too high. The annual income of the two children is basically the same without exchange rate conversion. The daughter who works in the United States has an easy life, while the nephew who works in China works hard and the cost of living is higher.

working hours

My daughter's company has normal working hours. She works five days a week, eight hours a day and has an hour for lunch. At the beginning, my daughter occasionally took the initiative to work overtime, but after being reminded, she stopped working overtime. Every employee consciously goes to work for 8 hours every day, and it is enough to finish the work. If you go to work at 8 am, you can get off work at 5 pm as long as you finish the day's work. I came to work at 9: 00 a.m. and left work at 6: 00 p.m. Everyone is like this, very conscious, and there is no need to rush, so there is no problem of punching in.

My nephew works a little hard, so there is nothing to say during commuting hours. Basically he works overtime every day. It is common to work overtime at night 12, and sometimes he takes his work home on Saturday and Sunday. On the day he came back from the Dragon Boat Festival, Anthony went to the railway station to meet him. On the way, he said: I worked overtime all night this week, except that the earliest day ended at night 10, and I didn't go home until after night 12, and I stayed up all night until 3 pm the next day. I really don't know how the labor law is enforced in China, especially for such a multinational company, which obviously lacks supervision.

Income and expenditure? The annual income of the daughter and nephew is basically the same according to the US dollar and RMB of their respective countries (don't say the actual income, you can figure it out after reading it yourself). Because the insurance structure is different, after the deduction, the money you get is basically the same, but the expenditure situation is quite different.

Traffic? After the daughter joined the job, she drove the original used car to the garage that month and paid a down payment of 4,000 yuan or 5,000 yuan from the car sale. On the same day, she drove home with a new Focus car with a displacement of 2.0,2013, and only paid back the car loan of $250 a month, which took five years. If you don't go out to play, the monthly fuel cost is about 50 yuan. The company has a relatively large parking lot and there is no parking fee problem.

When my nephew joined the company, he had to go to work for an hour every day. If he drives by himself, it only takes 20 minutes to take a shortcut. A few days before reporting to the company, a good friend of his parents lent his nephew a 2.4 Toyota SUV, which made it much easier for him to go to work after he joined the company. However, the cost of car maintenance also comes with it. Ask my nephew: How much is the gas bill this month? Nephew: 6700 yuan. Why so many? 2.4 displacement! Well, even if the monthly gas bill is 600 yuan, the daily parking fee is 30 yuan. I worked 20 days a month, but my fuel and parking fees went to 1200 yuan. In May, I returned the car to others. If I take a taxi to my office, I must go to 30 yuan once. When I go back at night, I sometimes take the bus, not counting the transportation fee after work. I have to go to 600 yuan once a month.

Rent a house? The community where my daughter is now, that is, the community we have been to, is a community dedicated to renting houses. Quiet and tidy, good property management. About 10 minutes' drive from the company. The rented house, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, one living room and one kitchen, covers an area of about 7 or 80 square meters. Two people share the rent, and the rent is 500 dollars each. The room has been fully equipped with many things, such as range hood, washing machine, clothes dryer, Internet access fee, TV fee and water and electricity fee, which are shared by two people for about 120 yuan for one month.

My nephew's rental situation is very depressing. I haven't seen it. According to the situation described by my nephew, I judged that I rented a small room with an area of about 10 square meter, plus a so-called toilet that was full when I squatted down, and it would cost 1500 yuan in a month! I often work overtime at night after work. I can only wash my hair and sleep when I come back. There is no need to install TV and internet, which saves a sum of money.

Communication fee? My daughter's mobile phone communication fee in the United States is a family plan, and more than 50 dollars a month is enough. The set meal ordered by my nephew is more than 30 yuan a month/kloc-0.

Food? Meal fee: Young people often make breakfast casually, so don't mention it. My nephew has lunch and dinner near the company. Every meal is in 25 yuan, and every lunch and dinner is in 50 yuan. Daughters basically eat in the company, and a few dollars is enough. She said that the most expensive time to go out for Chinese food was $7, and dinner was usually cooked by herself after work, which saved a lot.

The above expenses should be clear after a rough calculation. Working and living in America is relatively easy, and the working environment is OK. The children of returnees not only have to face fierce employment competition, but also have low income after work. In the current environment of abnormally high prices, the wages they get can only maintain basic survival, and the situation is really worrying. At present, my daughter intends to invest the remaining money in the American stock market, and my nephew is going to work part-time in an English training institution, hoping to increase some income and improve his living conditions. Having said that, it is hard to say who will be happier and who will make the right choice in the end. As long as they are happy, I believe they will find their own way of life and goals in both the United States and China. However, as parents, who have spent so much time and money to support their children to study abroad, we still have to help them figure out what we really want and what is most important to us, and make the right choice for their children when deciding whether to return home or stay abroad.
