Travel routines - travel notes on Guilin, Guangxi

This Spring Festival, our family of three chose to go to Guilin, Guangxi to have fun and experience a different Spring Festival.

We started from Beijing, flew to Guilin, spent two days in Guilin City, took a boat along the Li River to Yangshuo, and played in Yangshuo for three days. We wanted to go to the Longji Rice Terraces on the last day, but Due to heavy fog, the trip to Longji Rice Terraces was canceled, so we stayed in Yangshuo for one more day, and finally returned to Guilin from Yangshuo and flew back to Beijing. The entire trip lasts six days.

This article records some unplanned expenses during the trip for reference by friends who need to travel to Guilin in the future.

During this trip to Guangxi, I deeply experienced a saying: Guilin’s landscapes are the best in the world, and Yangshuo’s landscapes are the best in Guilin.

Guilin is a city, and Yangshuo is one of the 12 counties in Guilin. The order of visit must be to visit the scenic spots in Guilin first, and then go to Yangshuo.

Otherwise, after visiting Yangshuo, you will not feel that the attractions in Guilin are so beautiful when you come back.

Many scenic spots in Guilin and Yangshuo provide photo services, and you can provide a small photo for free. If you need large printed photos, you need to spend 20 yuan to purchase them.

During this process, I saw a lot of good photos. If I didn’t buy them, they would be thrown away, so I couldn’t help but buy some. In particular, I asked for some more group photos of the family of three. I don’t usually take many group photos, after all, I need help from someone to take them.

During this trip, we spent a total of more than 500 yuan on paper photos, haha!

According to my later conclusion, if you want to save some of these costs, it is best not to go there to take free photos, otherwise you will definitely pick a few ^_^

After finishing the tour in Guilin, We chose to take a boat along the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo. The scenery along the way was quite beautiful.

We purchased a so-called luxury cruise ship, which cost 200 yuan per ticket, but when we took the bus to the pier, we were told by the tour guide that we could upgrade to a VIP cabin on the second floor of the cruise ship for an additional 50 yuan. There were many people on the first floor, it was noisy, the space was small, and the bathroom on the first floor also had a bad smell. However, the second floor had a better view than the first floor, with fewer people and a comfortable environment. The three of us could not resist the temptation and paid an additional 50 yuan each to move up to the second floor.

After boarding the ship, I discovered that the environment on the first and second floors was the same, with large, comfortable sofas and very spacious seats. The bathroom is on the stairs between the first and second floors and there is no smell. The biggest advantage of being on the second floor is that it is located higher and has a better view of the scenery outside when sitting in the cabin. However, tourists can go to the third deck to enjoy the scenery, so it is not a big problem if they don’t upgrade.

After entering the Jingjiang Prince’s Palace Scenic Area in Guilin, the scenic area provided a free tour guide. Later I discovered that this was the biggest trick I encountered during this trip - promoting the secret of the Palace.

We followed the free tour guide in the scenic area to visit the Chengyun Hall of the entire park, saw the "husband and wife hugging" ancient trees in the yard, took a look at the "Zhongshan Monument" located under Duxiu Peak, and studied at Duxiu Peak. You can find the authentic cliff carvings left by Wang Zhenggong of the Southern Song Dynasty 800 years ago, saying that "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world". You can go into the cave to view the Taipingyan Cultural Grottoes, learn about different Buddhist teachings, and experience it in the restored "Gongyuan" His life experience during the imperial examination.

In the Moya Cave under Duxiu Peak, people saw a different Buddhist world. Various stone Buddha statues are carved on the walls. According to the introduction, everyone's birth year and attributes are naturally intertwined with good and bad luck. If you want to have good luck, you have to worship the Tai Sui statue hanging on the wall. According to the theory of the heavenly stems and earthly branches, there are 60 Tai Sui figures per year. , so depending on the year you were born, the Tai Sui you have to kneel down to will naturally be different.

After kneeling down, you can donate some merit in the merit box next to it, or invite your own Tai Sui home. There are Tai Sui rubbings on silk or Tai Sui made of jade for you to choose. The price is naturally high.

In the end, my wife spent a few hundred yuan to buy a little Tai Sui made of jade. The corresponding year is 1959. She plans to take it back to her hometown and give it to the child’s grandfather. This year happens to be the birth year of my father-in-law.

According to what my wife said: Although I know this is a trick, I still want to give this gift because the elderly may be more trustworthy.

In the Yulong River Scenic Area in Yangshuo, ordinary cars cannot enter during the day. There are two solutions:

① Transfer to transportation in the scenic area, or rent a bicycle or Electric vehicles entering the scenic area

② If you live in the scenic area, you can choose to drive your self-driving car into the scenic area at night

We booked a hotel in the scenic area, so we chose 18 p.m. Then take a taxi to enter the scenic spot, so that you can take your luggage directly to the hotel.

I heard from local villagers that if the Yulong River Scenic Area charges tickets, as locals they will definitely get a part of the income. But if they charge fares for transportation in the scenic area, they will not make any profit as locals.

During this trip, I was deeply impressed by the beautiful scenery of Yulong River on a bamboo raft.

The price of the bamboo raft is 160 yuan. It can accommodate up to two people, is about three kilometers long, and lasts 40 minutes. We are a family of three, and if all three of us ride, we must rent two bamboo rafts, so after discussion, I took the kids on the ride, and the kids’ mother took photos for us on the shore.

But when riding a bamboo raft, the raft master said that he could change people midway as long as he tipped 30 yuan. So during the bamboo raft ride, we temporarily docked. My wife and I changed places and both experienced the feeling of riding a bamboo raft^_^

Overall, this trip to Guilin was great Overall, the experience was not bad. Although I went through some routines, I also gained experience. There is a saying that goes well: The money you spend is your own. As for whether it is worth it or not, it is everyone’s choice.
