Ding Zhen’s hometown is Litang County, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province.
Litang County is located in the west of Sichuan Province and the southwest of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is located at 99°19′~100°56′ east longitude, 28°57′~30°43′ north latitude, and borders the Ya River in the east. It borders Muli, Daocheng and Xiangcheng counties to the south, Batang to the west, and Baiyu and Xinlong counties to the north. The total land area is 14,352 square kilometers. As of 2021, the registered population of Litang County is 68,202.
Han belongs to Bailangdi. Sui genus Lidou. Tang belongs to Tubo. In the 32nd year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1906), Lihua County was established. In the third year of Xuantong (1911), the Lihua Hall was established to govern Daocheng, Dingxiang, Hue and other counties. The chieftain system began in the Yuan Dynasty and flourished in the Qing Dynasty. Lihua County was liberated on May 31, 1950, and was renamed Litang County in May of the following year. As of October 2021, Litang County has jurisdiction over 7 towns and 15 townships, and the county government is located in Gaocheng Town.
Litang County’s natural resources:
1. Forest trees: Litang County’s forest area is 18,375.73 hectares, its standing tree volume is 51,391,343 cubic meters, and its forest coverage rate is 7.4 %, the main tree species are fir and spruce, followed by redwood, alpine pine, cypress, poplar, alpine oak, birch, willow, etc.
2. Pasture: The total area of ??natural grassland in Litang County is 12.3577 million acres, and the usable area is 9.8916 million acres. Grassland plant resources are relatively rich, with more than 200 species that can be used as pasture. The main pasture species include alpine wormwood, Sichuan songgrass, and Carex niger. There are 7 kinds of high-quality forage planted in artificial grassland, mainly Elymus, swallowtail, white mountain leaf, red mountain leaf, rye, old miscanthus and duckweed.
3. Wild animals: There are national first-level protected animals in Litang County including white-lipped deer, forest musk deer, horse musk deer, leopard, snow leopard, Chinese merganser, golden eagle, jade-belted sea eagle, bearded vulture, Spot-tailed hazel grouse, Sichuan pheasant, etc.
