The earliest concrete records of Loulan Kingdom in China's historical records can be found in Historical Records and Biography of Dawan. When Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty, Loulan changed his country name to Shanshan, and asked the imperial court to station troops in Yixun. Emperor Zhao set up a surname in Yixun City, and set up a field. Since then, Loulan has become the strategic fulcrum for the central government to control the western regions. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Loulan still occupied an important position on the Silk Road. The eastern Han government reclaimed land from the sea in Loulan on a large scale to develop Loulan. For hundreds of years, Loulan has been an important transportation hub from the mainland to the western regions. Loulan was rarely seen in the later history and gradually disappeared mysteriously.

With 1979, a Loulan archaeological team organized by Xinjiang Archaeological Research Institute entered Loulan, awakening this ancient city that has been sleeping for thousands of years. Here, people excavated the architectural sites of the ancient city, unearthed the female corpse of Loulan 4,000 years ago, and a large number of bronzes, ironware, stone tools, ornaments and documents, which made people fully feel the prosperity of Loulan in the past. In the lower reaches of Peacock River leading to Loulan Road, the archaeological team found a large number of ancient tombs. At this point, this ancient country with a long history has gradually unveiled its mysterious veil to us.

In fact, strictly speaking, Loulan is not a scenic spot. It is listed as a national key protection unit and has not been officially opened to the outside world. Behind its "sky-high ticket" is the protection of cultural relics by the state. Because Loulan itself has a very high archaeological significance and is located in a desert area, the ecological environment is very fragile. The more people visit, the greater the pressure on it, and the man-made injury is irreversible. Therefore, tourists are screened by raising the ticket price.
