Where are the canyon sunken wood ruins?
The Canyon Sunken Wood Site is a classic red tourist attraction.
The Canyon Sunken Wood Site is located in Shishidaogou, 10 kilometers south of Laoling Village, Shihu Town, Tonghua County, and 20 kilometers away from the public welfare village where the town government is located. The site is located in a mountain forest. There are stacks of century-old logs at the bottom of the canyon and a large number of logs scattered on the river bed of six or seven kilometers. These logs are between three and four meters in length and more than 50 centimeters in diameter. Some even exceed 100 meters in diameter. Centimeters, most of the logs are now nearly rotten or rotten, and only some pine trees are still well preserved. It was formed when the Anti-Japanese Forces mobilized lumberjacks to push the logs used by the Japanese and puppets to build the "Tongji" railway into the canyon.
At the beginning of 1938, Yang Jingyu led more than 500 people from the headquarters and directly affiliated troops of the First Anti-Japanese Army to return to the Ji'an area from Liaoning. The railway project between Tonghua and Ji'an, which was being built by the Japanese and puppet authorities, was the key target and a series of raids were launched. The Tongji Railway is an extension of the Meihekou to Tonghua Railway. It was built by East Asia Civil Engineering Co., Ltd. and broke ground in March 1937. On March 13, 1938, Yang Jingyu led his troops to make a surprise attack on the construction site of the Laoling Tunnel of the Tongji Railway. They achieved brilliant results, shocked the entire Dongbian Road, and effectively inspired the fighting spirit of our anti-Japanese soldiers and civilians. The "Canyon Sunken Wood" site in Shidaogou in Shihu Town, Tonghua County was formed when the Anti-Alliance Forces mobilized lumberjacks to push logs used for railway construction into the canyon. It is an example of a breach of attack. The sunken wood in the canyon was the log used by the Japanese when they built the Laoling Tunnel Project of the "Tongji" Railway in 1938. During the attack by the First Anti-Alliance Army, under the command of Yang Jingyu, many lumberjacks were led by "Mubantou" Formed by pushing logs down the valley floor. The sinking of the log stacks at that time shattered the Japanese's attempt to transport logs here to build a railway, and also protected the forest vegetation here.
No funds have been invested in renovations since the site was discovered, and it has basically maintained its original appearance.
