The Tourism College of Huaqiao University was established in 2004, and its predecessor, the Tourism Department of Huaqiao University (founded in 1983), is one of the earlier higher tourism colleges (departments) approved by the Ministry of Education of China, and it is also the first tourism department in China that can directly recruit undergraduate, master and doctoral students from overseas. The College of Tourism is also the deputy director of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Higher Vocational College of Tourism of the Ministry of Education, the executive director of the National Association of Tourism Colleges, the editorial board of international authoritative academic journals such as the Yearbook of Tourism Research, the member of the Professional Committee of Tourism Geography of China Geographical Society, and the chairman of the Professional Committee of Culture and Education of Fujian Tourism Association. Tourism College consists of three departments: tourism management, hotel management, tourism planning and scenic spot management, and three scientific research institutions: Tourism Science Research Institute, Landscape Planning and Design Center, Hotel Management International Research Center and Tourism College Experimental Center. The Fujian-Macao College of Huaqiao University is also affiliated to the Tourism College. Since the development of Tourism College, it has a professional, powerful and well-structured faculty. The college also employs more than 40 famous experts at home and abroad and senior managers of tourism enterprises as part-time professors and part-time associate professors all the year round.

At present, the Tourism College has formed a large-scale, distinctive and multi-level discipline system for training tourism professionals, with two doctoral enrollment points (tourism management major-enrollment in 2007, and tourism enterprise management direction of our school's enterprise management major-enrollment in 2004, with four research directions: tourism enterprise management, leisure and entertainment management, regional tourism development strategy, tourism and religious culture).
