10 what to do in Jakarta

Lead: Many tourists hate Jakarta because they visit in the wrong way. They looked up the strategy on the Internet and then tried to finish it in a short time. Because they are unfamiliar with the city, they are stuck in traffic time. It takes a lot of time to get from one scenic spot to another, and it takes more time to bargain with Indonesians.

First of all, what 10 has to do in Jakarta.

I'm not saying Jakarta is perfect, but if you know what to do, you can definitely have a good time.

The following are 10 things I recommend Jakarta to do. Another name of this article is "Why don't you hate Jakarta". Your suggestions are welcome. Please leave your comments at the bottom of the article.

1) Dating local girls (at least for men)

To be honest here, if there were no Indonesian girls in Jakarta today, would foreigners still be so interested here? Of course not.

Dating local girls is the main activity of most people I know who live here, even those who already have wives in China. Apart from the obvious benefits of the bedroom, it is also a fascinating way to introduce Indonesian culture and learn languages. Leaving Indonesia without this experience is a bit like going to Italy without pizza.

As a traveler, an easy way to date is to use an online dating application like Spark. I wrote an article, the best service you can use: Indonesia's Essential Mobile Phone Artifact. If you are a tourist and only have online dating but no job, many girls in Jakarta will doubt your intentions. You can read my other article, how to "fix" Indonesian girls.

2) Nightlife

Nightlife is one of the few areas where Jakarta can compete with Bangkok or Singapore. If you go to x2 on Saturday night, there will be at least 200 tourists. The clubs in Jakarta are not perfect, but they are interesting. As long as you wear decent clothes, foreigners get special treatment. Unlike in Europe, you have no chance to get close to girls.

3) Eat Indonesian food

When you visit Jakarta, I suggest you try Indonesian food. You can go to Sabang Street or Kota Manga Bersars in downtown Jakarta and choose one of the crowded food stalls. You can refer to my other article, 10 The Best Indonesian Cuisine in Jakarta. Low price: the general price of a meatless plate is about 10000 rupees, chicken or fish is about 20000 rupees, and beef or mutton is between 30000 and 50000 rupees.

Don't just try fried rice, you will miss hundreds of delicious features. Personally, I like Gudeg (cooked jackfruit), Ayam Gulai (chicken and Indonesian curry), beef rendang (slow-cooked beef with spices), Bebek Mercon (duck's special hot sauce), grilled fish Dabu-Dabu (Manado old hot sauce), Lawar (chopped vegetables and meat), Konro (sparerib soup) and so on.

4) Massage

Indonesia is one of the best massage countries in the world. In Jakarta, you can find a professional masseur to massage you at your doorstep for an hour, which costs only $5. In addition, almost every three-star hotel in Jakarta has an internal sauna center or 24/7 massage service.

You can also go to the independent sauna center for a 90-minute massage, 15 to 30 dollars. For luxury sauna massage, you can read my article: Five Best Sauna Massage in Jakarta.

Foreign women will tell you that Jakarta is a great place. Have a cheap cream bath, nail polish or scrub. Beauty salons are not expensive, they are everywhere.

5) Do nothing

"Nongkrong" (Chinese meaning "loitering") is a symbolic hobby of Indonesia. Basically, this means doing nothing.

You can hold video parties almost anywhere: in cafes, rooftop bars, restaurants, in front of 7- 1 1 convenience stores, on the street, at friends' homes, at mosques, and so on. What you need is at least another person. You can also have a glass of beer, cigarettes, coffee and some snacks. You can see in the photo above that the chair is unnecessary.

You may think it is a waste of your time, but it is not. This is a time to relax, eat, drink, socialize and adapt to the new environment. In this tense city, it is necessary to slow down to avoid going crazy.

6) Walk around

It may seem strange, but my favorite daytime activity in Jakarta is walking in a normal Indonesian community. This is a free and simple thing, but it is worth it. Whenever I have guests in Jakarta, I always take them for a walk. They like it. This made them discover the slow-paced life of ordinary people living in this city.

As long as you know how Jakarta is organized, you can do almost anything anywhere. Most shopping centers, office buildings, luxury houses and hotels are located on large streets, such as Rasuna Said, Sudirman or Gatot Subroto. As long as you play behind the skyscraper, you will have smaller streets, and only motorcycles can enter. The atmosphere has completely changed: it has become no traffic, almost in the countryside, with low houses and chickens running and dogs barking.

7) Visit tourist attractions

Some tourist attractions in Jakarta are very interesting, but it is wrong to have a look before doing the above things. My most recommended attractions are Freedom Mosque, National Museum, Taman Fattahila (there are several museums and cafes in the square of the old city) and Sunda Graba (the old port). All this can be done in one day, if you start early, if you choose a hotel in the central area.

8) Learn Indonesian

Indonesian is one of the simplest languages in the world. This is easy to learn because there is no verb tense or suffix change (noun modification). You can put words together to make sentences. Pronunciation is also very simple: each letter has a sound.

I know a traveler who barely reached the level of dialogue in two weeks. All he did was recite 200 words, and then seize any opportunity to start a dialogue with the Indonesian people. He is also dating a girl, which is very helpful.

If you stay in Jakarta for more than a few weeks, or if you live in Southeast Asia, I suggest you learn at least a few words. It will make you experience Indonesia more richly and happily.

9) Shopping

Indonesia is a protectionist country. This means that any imported or imported parts will be expensive, anything that can make the local (usually) cheap. Shopping in traditional markets and shopping streets is a good local experience. I wrote a complete article: 25 best markets and shopping streets in Jakarta.

Shopping in middle-class shopping malls is also very interesting, and you will find some bargains (although not as good as Thailand and Vietnam). Clothing and accessories made in Indonesia are generally very cheap. Electronic equipment, mobile phones, computers and cameras are all local brands, which don't cost much, but the quality may be worse. There are always many fake and shoddy products. Some of the best middle-class shopping centers are ITC Mangga Dua, Mall Kelapa Kading, Mall Ambassador and Mall Taman Anggrek.

Shopping in luxury shopping centers such as Indonesia Plaza, Senayan Plaza and Pacific Plaza is actually not interesting in terms of price. Most of the products sold are more expensive than those in other places. If you want to see the colorful side of Jakarta, these shopping malls are still worth seeing. There you will find the most popular cafes, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and cinemas.

10) ask for leave

If you don't come out of Jakarta for a while, you will start to hate it. There are flights from Jakarta to most airports in Indonesia, which is the best base for visiting the country. Fifty dollars can take you to white sand beaches, world-class coral reefs and indigenous tribes thousands of miles away.

Located in Independence West Street, west of Independence Square in the city center, the museum was built in 1868, making it the largest and richest museum in Indonesia. The museum is a European white building. Where is more fun to travel to Jakarta on National Day-the Old Town of Jakarta

The old city of Jakarta, also known as Kota, is located in the north of Jakarta, near Chinatown. Its predecessor was the ancient city of Batavia, the Dutch colonial capital. There are many old buildings left by the Dutch here. The city has a strong charm and a distinctive pattern. The center is the square named Fatasila Garden, where there are some folk performances from time to time, museums, coffee shops and, of course, souvenir shops for tourists, and the price is acceptable. What used to be the old Dutch city hall has now become a historical memorial museum. There are Wayang Museum, Mandiri Museum, maritime museum and Indonesian Bank Museum nearby, which can be visited together and some of them accept tickets.

Where is more fun to travel to Jakarta on National Day-Indonesian Mini Park

Indonesia Mini Park is located in the suburb of Jakarta, covering an area of 100 hectares. There is a huge model map of Indonesia Islands in the center of the park, and the surrounding gardens are divided into 27 districts, representing 27 provinces and regions in Indonesia such as Central Java, Bali and Jakarta. Each district has local traditional buildings and local unique plants. Here, you can take a boat tour of "Indonesia Island", or take a cable car, a small train or a carriage, and travel all over the country to appreciate the scenic features of Indonesia.

Where is more fun to travel to Jakarta on National Day-Independence Square

Located in the center of Jakarta, also known as modica Square. The surrounding streets are wide and tidy, dotted with flowers and trees. In the green, many local people take a leisurely walk here. Independence Square is centered on the Monument to the Indonesian People's Heroes, with the Presidential Palace in the north and the Ministry of National Defense compound and the Central Museum in the west street. To the east is gambier Railway Station. In the southeast corner of the square, there is a group of horse-drawn car sculptures based on the story of Mahabharata, which is very spectacular. There is also a musical fountain in the park on the west side of the monument.

Third, Jakarta Food Raiders

Jakarta pickle

Asinan Jakarta

This popular Jakarta dish is like kimchi in Indonesia. There are several kinds of kimchi in Southwest China. Generally speaking, fresh, salty and sour dishes are served as side dishes, such as bean sprouts, tofu, lettuce and Chinese cabbage, with spicy, sour and sweet sauces. Different ingredients, usually with peanuts and shrimp slices to balance this amazing taste.

Chicken porridge

Bubul Ayam

This obviously has the origin of Chinese food, which is widely eaten as breakfast or snack in Indonesia. Batavia's version is to add clear soup and rich ingredients. These usually include small pieces of chicken and fried eggs, plus shrimp slices, fried soybeans, fried leeks and onions.

Wudufan

Naxi Uduk

Udo rice is a kind of primitive rice in Jakarta, which probably means "bibimbap". It's basically boiled rice with coconut milk. Before traditional steaming, rice is soaked in coconut milk, and clove, cinnamon from China, vanilla and citronella are added, which is probably the most fragrant rice. Rice is usually served with fried onions as the main course, with other soups and salads around it. Some sellers wrap Udo rice with banana leaves and have a variety of side dishes to choose from.

Vegetable rice cake

Longtong Sayer

Vegetable rice cakes are widely used in traditional Indonesian dishes. The main ingredient is thick and spicy coconut milk soup base, and citronella, southern ginger, turmeric, bay leaf, lemon leaf and pepper are added. Serve with pumpkin, tomato slices, bergamot, bamboo shoots, carrots, beans and shrimp. Variations include chicken and beef ribs with sliced shrimps or boiled eggs.

Soto

Soto is the most popular chicken soup in Indonesia, with many versions and introductions. Soto in Batavia generally includes beef and viscera, and some varieties include mutton and even buffalo. There are also rice noodles, potatoes and tomatoes. Soto is usually served with a plate of rice or a vegetable rice cake. Some soto sellers sell lime juice or salty soy sauce spilled by customers in soup.

Four. Matters needing attention in going to Jakarta

1, exchange currency

When you travel to Indonesia, you must remember to change your money. Other countries don't use RMB, so we have to prepare the money in advance. This is an obstacle to shopping, accommodation, eating and so on. If you only have RMB, then you are equivalent to a poor man with nothing. Money can be exchanged at the counter of the Bank of China. There are currencies from different countries for you to choose from. When you arrive in Jakarta, you will use rupees. It can also be called Indonesian rupiah, which will not affect the exchange.

Take your passport.

Passports are more useful than ID cards abroad. It is your passport to go abroad, and it is also something you may use when you go in and out of various places, especially some hotels. It's best to take your passport with you, and don't leave it in the hotel casually, so as to ensure the smooth and safe travel to Jakarta. Of course, passports also have a validity period, so you should go and return quickly before the validity period expires.

Step 3 prepare for the trip

Get your luggage and documents ready before you leave, especially when you have to catch a plane. If you lose any important documents, you may miss the plane. So before you leave, you should not only prepare your luggage, but also put the necessary documents and valuables in your carry-on bag to facilitate your management.
