Introduction to attractions

Gaozhuang, formerly known as Xixi Villa, was the residence of Gao Shiqi, a favored minister of Kangxi in the early Qing Dynasty and a talented scholar from Hangzhou. The main architectural style of this magnificent manor has the characteristics of Beijing official residences in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, as well as elements of the residences of literati in the Qing Dynasty. The spatial layout forms a distinct pattern of "front mansion and back garden", showing the grandeur and majesty of the official residence.

Ancient, clean and profound landscape

The landscape in the garden is simple and tranquil. It can be called a model of Jiangnan gardens and one of the masterpieces of Hangzhou gardens. The main attractions in the village include: Bamboo Window, Zhuxi Thatched Cottage, Jiaoyuan Poetry Society, etc. It reflects the unique official deeds, reclusive culture and female artistic activities of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Xixi's history.
